A bit, but with more ammo. It will be needed if they install them in Melbourne traffic  and the allow 1kph over before opening fire. Oh yeah, it will have a neat pastel coloured cover with a small sign saying Your tax dollars at work!

A mate used to work for Redflex after he went over to the Darkside, I think he still gets a commission on every driving phone offence camera unit they sell.

Yes sir, thats our tax dollars going to work. We paid for that road coloured vehicle that is hiding just over the hill or inbetween those bushes, behind the tree's, the sneaky barsteads. being 'pinged a minute from my house in a country town, on a non descript street, where there are not accidents maiming and causing massive trauma, FFSake. I lost 3 points, so did the guy who picked up my Harley at my joint to take it to Harley shop, 10 minutes away.(Where I live everythings, -10 minutes away..... Our taxes, for 50fucken years I've been paying government tax, and this is what I get in my twilight years. (means ya nearly fucked) Bullets, hah, I can see rocket launchers, that way they can just vapourise us old cunts.

    G'day,

what continues to surprise me is the fact that no one has attempted to wreck/destroy or otherwise incapacitate any of those camera cars.
In Sydney we have public place shootings where bad people are shooting other bad people, but not one camera car.
NOT that I am suggesting anything should happen to one of these guardians of our roads.
    Just wondering.

It happened just a few days ago in Vic....

On a positive note, at least the masked alleged offender was covid safe. There is an irony in the stealthy ambush of the sneaky speed camera car as it hid by the side of the road.

    G'day,

all this technology, light speed, time travel, stasis, [what ever that means], and they still use bullets.

Well, a lot of the Alien(s) sets looked like the run down low rent parts of the galaxy, where the old tech of high speed projectiles still does a pretty effective job. They just didn't have enough ammo.  500 rounds per gun just ain't enough. 5000 rounds maybe enough.

Hey flstetc, I only know of one serious attempt to replace normal bullets, the Gyrojet rocket pistol. It wasn't a success, and now with individual rounds being collectors items at up to $1000 each, no ones gonna have much fun with one. Normal guns are pretty cheap to run, those sentry guns could fill that tunnel with death, it's just there were a lot of tough fast moving targets in them.

    G'day,

there was an Aussie toy a few years ago, that seemed to go nowhere.

Metal Storm has created a 36-barreled stacked projectile volley gun, boasting the highest rate of fire in the world. The prototype array demonstrated a firing rate of just over 1 million rounds per minute for a 180-round burst of 0.01 seconds (~27,777 rpm / barrel). Firing within 0.1 seconds from up to 1600 barrels (at maximum configuration) the gun claimed a maximum rate of fire of 1.62 million RPM and creating a dense wall (0.1 m between follow-up projectiles) of 24,000 projectiles.[11][12][13]n interesting quote.
    My kinda 'GUN'.

Hang on this was 'non starter', that last item was definitely anything but. What other 'forgotten Weapon' can we dig up that's near as cool as Metal Storm?

I'd forgotten about the Metal Storm mob, after they went into receivership and seemed to fade away.
The UN would have found them useful at the Chosin Reservoir or Imjin River in 1951.
My father did a liaison tour with the US army in Korea in 57, talked later about there still being prepared hull down positions for tanks along the border, and huge amounts of stockpiled canister shot for the tank guns. No one wanted to have the bolt lock back after the last round on the last belt had gone through ever again.
But moving aside from military use to more sporting pursuits, how about this?
