    Sounds like you're covered by your father in law, but the bloke who runs the website is an enthusiast and is a wealth of knowledge.

    I did find them 6 months ago Stu and they have the 2 gears I need on the website. I need the bullgear behind the chuck and the gear that engages it. Can’t part off or cut threads until I change them. But I reckon its worth doing, this old bustard will see me out, no electronics to let me down.

    Just in case your after something out of the box, I know a guy that knows a guys that still works for Hercus in Adelaide.

    Haha. I'm in the market for a genuine taper turning attachment - and have been for a long time. They turn up occasionally, but are either badly worn or hellishly expensive. Or both. I know Hercus are still in business, but would be (pleasantly) surprised if they still held stock for the 9 inch lathes.
