You know as opposed to my previous post, it's not too bad.
I own a GS, bought it new to ride off road, that's all I do with it.
I also have a GS. Going to see Oz on the brown stuff rather than last lap on the black stuff.....just need the Covid stuff to foook of before i am to old to do it.
Well seen the Pan America for the first time last week. I still couldn't see myself owning one and to be honest I wouldn't pay $32000 for any adventure bike no matter what name is on the tank. I am hearing good reports about them but I have to ask does a adventure bike really need a 150hp. Anyway a few photos I took last week at Mackay Harley Davidson in Queensland.
how much Torque?
Chain drive again?
Well today i spent my day on a Pan America demo bike. I am in the planning stage of heading to Steep point and throwing around some options regarding the possibility of updating my Bmw 1200gs LC . Loved the bike, that motor is fabulous on the road and a fair bit stronger than my GS at the top end. The suspension is better on my Bmw but the auto lowering at stop is very welcome on the HD. The off-road capability is certainly with the Bmw at my experience level, the lower centre of gravity being a major factor. Bmw low speed off road is marginally better. Have ridden a 1250 Bmw but will do it again after riding the HD. Its a very good bike and pretty tempting. Wade this could be your que to tempt me....
I'll throw my hat in the ring-
Cheers GG i can only ride the Triumph around the block basically and the current shipment is sold out. I have ruled out the KTM as its a lot more dirt oriented than i could ever exploit. I need to consider that we are still going to be on the tar to get to the dirt longer than dirt to tar. Both the Kato and the Trump are fooooken tall mothers as well with 21inch fronts not helping the situation. Some things on the Trump scare me for a adventure bike....things like blind spot detection in the mirrors, how much is that going to cost when you smash a mirror first time you park it in the bushes? Have ridden my mates GS1250 but going to grab another ride on his in the next few weeks. This Pan America is certainly not out of the picture just yet.
I know blokes who have been riding big-bike ADV for years, and the same blokes are dyed in the wool "Harley-bashers", and even they have conceded that the Pan-Am is a really good thing.
