SE 110 for 96/103 no case maching required

    So coming from my local dealers Facebook page, they're currently in LA for a new parts release convention for Harley dealers, and today they posts on their facebook page a new SE 110 kit for 96 and 103 engines that requires no case machining. I don't think Harley in general have released this to the public yet, but I'm certainly very interested

    Cool thanks speedzter. Yeah I guess like most things there's always a downside. I'm keen to give it a go still

    Well they do bore stock cylinders to 107 I guess, and the new bolt on cylinders are using high strength steel liners instead of cast.
    So they should be good !
    Interesting to see if the cylinders/pistons are available separately.

    spigot would be dangerously thin, there isn't a lot left with the 106's 3.927" bore let alone going to 110", another 0.073" off...

    Umm this could be an interesting one for a Harley waranty claim if it fails

    Yeah I'm thinking along those lines pauly. It seams strange Harley would spend all that money on producing this kit if there's a chance they're going to be inundated with warranty claims from destroying engines.

    My mechanical knowledge in this area is minimal so domt shoot me down for that comment.

    I'm interested in how this kit would go in an existing stage 4 setup with a good set of pipes and tune. I'm told by my local dealer they should be able to itemise just the Pistons, rings and barrels. well at the moment it's just an idea, and as you guys suggest, it might be a bad one

    I wouldn't worry about doing a 7 cube increase to this possibly unreliable kit if you already have a well sorted 103 stage 4

    Cheers daggs, you're probably right with it not being worth while for me. I just finished putting the motor back together and the thought of tearing it down again does turn me off a bit

    Lol Squid, I would go one in a 96" no sweat, even an 88" if someone makes a piston down the track, always liked the idea of a 4x4 :)

    My thought would be a if you've gone the whole hog on a 103 setup, it'd really liven up with more cubes thrown at it yeah? Or no? My thing is the bike is not going yet, so it hasn't even been on the dyno yet, so now would be the tobdo anything along these lines. fucks me, I guess the cost of the itemised items from that kit will ultimately be the determining factor in wether it's worth it or not

    S&s and some of the other large sellers of big bore kits, who supposedly use stronger metals that will deal with high temps better, have only gone as big as 107. I would've thought if it was possible to go out to the 110 size safely and make a buck that s&s would've already done it. So will be interesting to see how these 110 sized cylinders will go with stock engine cases in terms of reliability. You'd want to keep compression (and temps) low Id reckon. But then a higher compression 103 build would arguably run better

    Ok so apparently it's just 103 barrels bored out with high grade steel sleeves so Harley claims this will keep the reliability.

    Lots of water went under the bridge with 98 and 107 cubers before S&S released the 97 &106 cubers and the 107 is relatively new.
    Harley will do a 110 cubers with no issues. This is good marketing to keep those Indies at bay. S&S will get on this bandwagon don't worry about that

    Just wonder'n if the new "S" softys have the bored out cases,,,,

    or the turned down sleeves.  cool
