Its a lovely old building now and i do recall it looking very sad for a while. Its iconic as you round the bend headed to Kenilworth after descending the mountain.

Yeah, it did get pretty ugly, this is it in about 2005. And just thrown in for good measure, here's #4 crossing in about 1935 when it was just a spider bridge.

Refresh me on which is number 4 crossing ....is that just after the now closed section where people used to camp on the right headed toward kenilworth or is it the one just after your old place?

Beags, we've got these things called cows up here. The old hall sits in the corner of a paddock of what used to be a dairy farm, lush green kikuyu pasture most of the year round, hard to get a grass fire going. In the old days when we were gonna run an all night party, we'd get the cocky to keep the cows out of that paddock for a couple of weeks before, less cow shit to walk or fall over in that way. Rest of the time he got a couple of acres of free agistment. Now days when it's a profitable wedding venue for people from Brisbane and the coast, there's a bloke paid to mow. Lot of brides turn up in flash wedding dresses and Blundstone or RM Williams boots, for a pretend country wedding, but I don't think they're ready for the authenticity of stepping in cow shit.
And PB, #4 is the low level bridge near the hall. They'd put a wooden deck on the old spider bridge by the time I first rode over it in 1976.
And going back a few posts, went up to Toowoomba and saw the Bike Riders today. Reckon it's a good movie. Those of us who have been around for a few years might have seen clubs change direction like in the movie a fair bit closer to home than Chicago.

Cheers Steve...a few yrs back after a bit of a flood i came down the Obi, gave it the berries coming down the mtn and just about to go over the bridge at the speed limit of course to see three turtles crossing the road. I pulled up at the intersection of the dirt rd and the tar and walked back to make sure no one was going to run over them....was beaten to the scene by the lovely lady who lives on that corner who heard the bike go from full noise to no noise and knew exactly what was going on. Good folk out that way.

One of Bruce's stranger songs. There's a lot going on behind the scenes at the circus. Off their 2nd album, and shit, that was over 50 years ago.

Back when Jesus played fullback for Nazareth!

Shit, I didn't know he was still playing fullback in 1973. I thought like most soccer players, you know, twist an ankle on field and fall down squealing for the cameras, I thought he'd have let a little thing like some nails and a spear in the side stop his career. Glad to hear he got over it.
I'll have to tell them at church on Sunday, I'm sure that they don't know that, there's this bloke on King Island reckons he was still playing for Nazareth in 1973.
If they tell any Tassie jokes in reply, do you want me to post them on here? 🙂
