Twin cam performance

I just want to try and gauge what sort of seat of your pants performance you guys are getting from your (standard or close too) twin cam 88"s. My question is, if you roll on the throttle at 100km"s an hour in top gear to overtake a car for example, does your bike snap to it or does it feel sluggish and you need to change down a gear?? Mine is the latter. As I have previously stated,I have the race download and filter with slip on S.E. muffs. I am still considering the thundermax, but I was speaking to a rider today who has one and he described the roll on at 100km's to be much the same as mine ,usually needing to change down a gear. He did say it ran a bit smoother but I would just like to get some feedback from you guys on this "one question" because it is the only area of the rev range that bugs me a bit. If it is just typical of the 88 engine then I will leave everthing as is and forget about it.Thanks for any feedback.

Thanks R.T. thats sorta what i figured,I will probably just leave it stock and see if I can wear it out before I start shovelling more money into it. Just outa curiosity? what cam did you go with and how did it affect the rest of the rev range?

    Hi Peter,

Don't forget that softails have counter balance shafts that require a couple of HP to turn. They do require a little more spool up time. I'm going to fit a mild cam in mine soon but I don't mind a little gear shifting, keep the revs up and it's no problem.

Thanks for all the feedback,I will probably go with the 26's at some point, probably at the point where I replace the cam chain  tensioners or go with gear drive.

Thanks again for the advice and dont worry, I never rush decisions that involve my HD. I am also  pretty tuned in to the mechanical sound of any engine so I wont be lugging it anywhere.
