blown head gasket

    second pot blew out last night, what eles would you do while bike is half apart? gasket comes in a pair so that is a given., should i wire wheel the head and give it a good cleen? should i leave the valves in?im on a tight budjet, and as the saying goes if it aint broke......id like to put rings and a hone

    Did it chew out any of the metal surface on the Head when it went ? did you ride it for long blown ?

    looks like just the gasket.... will get it mach. anyway.
    probley 10 mins when i heard it, easied it back home
    how much play is to much in the conrods has very slight sideways no up and down..
    bore has sum cross hatching but also has weird pitting like spots
    how do you read rings? 1st pot is very oily up top...
    compression was very good 4 weeks ago..lol

    dont reckon id get a full tank for that package.....as for askin her back...fark that once gone is gone....loll
    100 cube would be nice one day, bt theres just sumthing about a nice shovel

    If theres oil up top theres a good chance ya will need a set of rings. Unless theres obvious snap marks etc, thats the only way oil can get up there. And if can see cross hatching well guess thats a good sign. But there is certain workshops I wouldnt take it too also, just dont wanna say in public lol. Youll get it sorted on the cheap if your prepared to do alot of the work yourself. There is also a bloke well known in these parts Ive never used him myself but his name is Allen and apparently travels to your house for work. From what ive heard pretty good. Hope ya get it sorted. If your wondering where to get parts i can tell ya somewhere that would prob have em on the shelf.

    got it.... im gunna have a crack at it, i know my way around v8's redone a few, theres 6 cylders less , but im under no impression it will be any easier...lol.
    think i found the oil problem..... the base of the cylinder has an oil gallery hole it was blocked by gasket and glue. ive ordered a set of james, they say they dont need any glue/sealant, the heads are being decked thisweek so it should have pretty good sealing straight off, fingers crossed, rings look good, and comp test a few weeks ago was 130 in both, so im gunna leave that side of things...
