I was wondering if anybody has tried the SE 260 camshafts as I am going to try a set . I have used SE257 previously while they were a good all round camshaft even with the headwork and high compression pistons I felt that they ran flat up top. The plan is SE260 cams head work springs and flat top 103 pistons. I also know there are probably better cam choices but I hate engines that rattle and the stealer tells me they won't be any worse than 257;s this is the reason for there choice.I have tried a set of redshift cams in another bike but pulled them out after short period as just to noisey for me. Ant feedback would be good.
Scotty, i used to talk to Mike Roland, he knows his Harleys and has ridden and raced them, i was going to get a set at one time but did not get around to it, but the one i wanted used two different Andrews grinds in together on on intake other on exhast. looked like a good cam with the right compression. Mike designed heads too but were pricy. who stocks them here?
Ozrodder how did you find out about Bob Woods & T Man?
Ozrodder I like the Bobby Wood stuff i have used, have not used his cams but my frien in TN uses them, my friend got TR T Man to do his heads a while back used wood modified CV carb mild andrews cam and very tight swish band. lot of comp, got some impressive TQ numbers and good HP from a 95" in softail, later he used a Wood 6H loved it,
let me know how the TW400-6 work ( whats diff between TW400 & TW400-6?) that TW400 has a lot of lift needs lots of Compression i think? at least my friend in TN said it does. he was going to send me a set over.
cheers
Scotty i think the wild Thing cam i liked might have been that cam ( 4 or 45?) if you have spec's of that cam check out Andrews cam spec's as uses andrew 60 intake and andrews 55 exhast makes good HP needs comp, Mike told me he had been useing that cam for a while before he started designing the wild thing products. he was first man to do 200MPH trap speed on a Top Fuel Nitro Harley , thats first in the world back in early nintys. used a chain primary drive, everyone else used belts he designed & made top fuel harley heads, a lot of the top bike were still useing them ,
Thank's Ozrodder, i'm out of date on HD developments, but been told new chain set up better, i would also like one of Bob Woods belt drive cam set would make changing cam timing easy. also would like to try his twin CV carb set-up but think he is into the EFI more now.
that TW400 has made some impressive numbers, be good to see how you like it.
the woods TW9 F is supposed to be good too, my friend in TN is older than me and has been down to Bob's a few times, Bob did not sic his german shepard onto him so must like him LOL he used the tw 9?? in his 124 s&s crate motor in a dresser twin cam 02 model with wood moded CV51 and a mixture of pipes that 2 into 1 that had big collector and he made an addaptor to fit super trapp supermeg muff said went hard, later put the stock s&s 640's in and they impressed him. but lately he has been working on his corvettes. .
well thats good mate, hope the woods cams work for you, what rods are you useing?
i just ment i've saw impressive results from all australian made products like John Treese but don't see anything about him online.
know what you mean about parts,
good luck mate
Well you should be right, just keep rev's below say 7,000, but if your holding a speed for a length of time don't keep it on 7,000 just in excelleration.
i've seen stock rods break and they broke the cases apart, but i have ridden my bike hard since 01 did 30,000k per year but only drag race it mostly now, but everything held up and at the end i was runing 12:0.1 comp stock rods & flywheels then found i had twisted the flywheels out of coppoling, stuffed the oil pump i got stock flywheels and a friend that races and has done this with the old style nitro harley flywheels put four spot welds each side of the pin, but i was runing SnS 625 cams 95", but now back with anrews 55G, i got 121.9mph trap speeds with 625's but with andrews 55g getting 118mph 119mph trap speeds so less power. i think best rods would be Corrillo but have not seen anyone useing them inTwin Cams. but i think Rods are very important, the male female design is the killer, when the rod breaks it's mostly the female down the bottom.
i've seen more male female rods broken in nitro harley motors than anything, these days they are mostly useing one peice crank and car type rods.
how are you doing at the drags?
your in WA?
