Handlebar Changeover

Had the Road King for eight months now and I reckon its time to change the standard handle bars as they make me feel like I'm leaning into the screen and arching my back.

Whats everybody else using out there? The RK has throttle by wire so the bars will have to suit I'd say.

Did you use the HD throttle wire extensions? The spares salesman at the stealers let go that they use aftermarket cause there cheaper ($100 for HD).

Also did you have to replace the brake line or clutch cable and did you use custom hand grips.

I've changed bars on the previous FXR many times but this fandangled Throttle-By-Wire thingy has me wondering.

Sh%t, starting to sound like a detective with a these questions , time for a beer.

Scotty's right, TBW is not a big deal. I have an 08 Road King and put on the 1 1/4" HD beefy bars. I think they are the same bars as on the 08 SE RK. I dont have to lean forward like you described and can now put good weight on the bars withoug having to lean too far forward. I internally wired it all and the wiring was just long enough. The molex plugs are easy to pull apart and reassemble, I had no need to cut any wiring. They say not to use the old throttle sensor but I dont see why not. I found that out after buying a new one.

Thanks for the advice Scotty and Fr3d.

Yeah shouldn't be too different from the other I've done, just moving forward in technology by 15 years, so I just wanted to check I guess.
