"Got the wife to do a ring around ........OH my GOD..........Shannons would't touch it cos its worth more than $20 K"

That sounds a bit strange to me as I had Shannons on my 2003 Softail and I had it Insured for agreed value around $25,000 and it only cost me $400 to $500 if my memory serves me well.

My 08 RKC is insured with Swann, Value $32,400 with a premium of  $571.

Does this have anything to do with age and post code I wonder????

Mate it always pays to shop around regardless of what you are looking for. Shopped around to get the bike serviced ranged from $330.00 - $450.00....please explain?

Pull the price out of a hat they must.

Finny, I would ring QBE and question them as I have done. Each year I call them before I pay the premium and the price always goes down.

I have been using QBE for 22 years, for my Ultra Classic agreed value in 2007 around 25K

    2007 was $467 Excess $350

    2008 was $400 Excess $350

Now for my 08 Fatboy, $31,000

    2008 was $550 Excess $350

Now with a list of bling over $15,000 (made sure and emailed them a list of accessories fitted).

    2009 is $500 Excess $350

I got the $550 down to $500 by a simple phone call mensioning the extras fitted and that I have been a long term customer, on the spot the guy reduce the premium by 50 bucks. I see it as a few of fuel tanks of fuel.

Now how the F*c* do they establish there premiums.

Did any of you guys get asked how many klms you would do in a year? i did and that made a difference in price too.... i use QBE mainly because they have an assesor here in WA... most other companies only send one over once a month if needed... perhaps more to it than meets the eye?????

I was always under the impression that Shannons only insure expensive bikes that people rarely ride which are secured/garaged...weird.

I have my SG insured with QBE for $518 on $30k. Excess is $350

I also have year 2000 1600cc RoadStar and the premium on that is $231 and excess is $350.

Did an online quote enquiry with EBike and they want $637 and a $500 excess!

QBE is the way to go for me

I lodged a claim with QBE 12 months or so ago, there is no assesor in my area, took photo's and filled the claim form in and that was it. Claim processed without any problems.

QBE are easy to deal with and don't give you the run around.

Had a call late yesterday afternoon from EBike following up on my earlier online enquiry. They wanted to know if I was going to proceed and I informed that they were too expensive. The guy on the phone said he would see if could improve things and countered with $596 and I told him they were still way off and he said they couldn't do any better.

So QBE is still the best deal for me

I was with AAMI for over 25 years even after moving from Melbourne to Perth. For sure it's only Swan, Western QBE and Shannons that seem to give fair insurance numbers for bikes. I am now with Shannons as they give 10% off for another vehicle and then another 5% off for every extra vehicle. I currently run 2 bikes and 2 cars and reckon they are reasonable. Call Shannons Perth and ask for Simon....... seems a bit more on-the-ball than others I have talked to!

I had my ride insured with QBE agreed value of $38K costing around $900pa to ride up to 8,000 kms per year.
A few weeks ago I installed $5K worth of kit and so I wanted to increase the agreed value to $43K (naturally). Well, as I found out this was not going to be easy. QBE said that they have a $40K limit for bike insurance? WTF
So I said FU and I'll take my business elsewhere. This was easier said than done. I tried e-bike - no go $40K limit. I tried Shannons and their agreed value max was $34K.

To cut a bloody long story short I went back to my original insurer NRMA. When I phoned through I was lucky enough to end up in the wrong area and spoke with a lady who asked me if I was a ulysses member (I am).
She said she could help me with a policy called veterans, vintage & classics motor insurance. The policy is not as it sounds and covers my 08 FXSTC at a cost of $1200pa for agreed value of $43K with unlimited kms per year.

Anyway it may not be the cheapest option but they have no issue with me increasing the agreed value as long as I have the receipts. So there's no excuse to continue the mods (much to the misses displeasure)

Been with Shannons for 3yrs now as I found they were one of the only companys that would insure a highly modified bike, as far as limited milage goes how do they know how many miles a year or how often you ride???

Ok, so you can still do 8 monthly installments, but if I get this letter I might tell them to sod off just on principle. When I signed up they pushed for the monthly payments and I think their excuse for dropping them sucks.

Fuck, those are some cheap insurance's. I went through Swann for my Night Train, insured for 32k, paying $980pa. No idea why it's so high, mebbe cause i'm under 30?
