Thought I would put this one out there.  What are the short rides that you most like to do?

Here's a couple of short rides I enjoy the most.  The first is going from where I live in the North East suburbs of Adelaide down Grand Junction Road to Semaphore (coast) and then down the esplanade and back.  It's a good ride because you go through some realy industrial areas and then down to the beach.  It's not a particularly long ride but it's got enough of a mixture of open road riding and scenery close to home to be enjoyable.

Also I like doing the Norton Summit run, it's a hill which is fairly twisty most of the way up and down.  Again it's a fairly short run you can do it easily in half an hour and it's pretty close to home.

I usually do both these rides either by myself or with my mate Tim who rides a Yamaha FZ6.

Tell us about the ride you look forward to the most.  What conditions, how far, who with etc.

Good stuff Mick. I also like heading down that way to Pt Noarlunga, I've done that run a few times, ie Anzac Highway to Glenelg then Brighton Rd, Lonsdale Rd and down to Pt Noarlunga pub.

Sounds good Johno, I don't mind the traffic riding it has it's own appeal, as long as you can keep moving.

Yes, I'll be featuring member bikes on the top banner each week, in fact today it's due for an update.

I also live in Adelaide but try to stay out of the traffic.

My favourite short rides are up in the hills around chain of ponds(this comes from my sport bike days).

I like going to Lobethal or Hahndorf, generally before the traffic gets to congestive.

North of Brissy you can turn of at Beerwah and head to a great little stretch of smooth wide windy road called the Peachester range,it must be the best short stretch of bike road (about 3km's) that I have ridden. You get to the top, and then you have to ride down again, then of course you have to ride up again because you were heading that way originally. From there I ride accross the top of Peachester heading westish and just before riding back down the range toward Woodford I turn north (and right) towards Maleney. This is a great road for a Harley, lots of open sweapers then the road tightens and climbs another range then opens up into more open sweepers and great scenery. Maleny is a nice spot for lunch and from there you can head back to the highway and a round trip of i'm guessing? 60 km"s or so.
