Sad story short, i've had my Night Train 3 weeks now, and of those 3 weeks, it's rained all but 2 dayz. Lucky for me i got a Poker Run in 1 of those days.
Ordered a Tri-Bar LED Tail Lamp from the states the other week and turned up while i was out at work so i thought i'd chuck it on seeing the rain and cyclones up this way has killed any chance of going for a ride.
First big mistake i made was not realising that maxi-fuse = main fuse. So i thought d/c'n the negative terminal on the battery was the right thing to do .
After about 3 minutes of complete deafening alarm noise in a garage, and after trying every key position on the bike, the only thing that'd stop it was reconnecting the terminal and turning the ignition off on the bike.
So then i d/c the maxi(main)-fuse. Have to turn the bike iginition to on, then off, and unplug the fuse b4 the alarm system activates in like 5 seconds.
First tip would be when disconnecting pins 19a and 19b, the small indicator wires, it's much easier done if u unscrew the circuit/pin board from the tail light bracket. There's small locking clips underneath the plugs that can be easily pry'd open with a small screw driver.
Next pulling the bracket out and installing the new bracket can be a bit tight so loosening the bolts on the outside of the rear fender infront of the indicators gives u a bit of room to play. Socket set with an extender makes the job of unscrewing the inside bolts holding the bracket on alot better to. Mine were really tight.
All in all it was an easy install and if a bonehead like me can do it, anyone could. Pretty pleased with the results.
seen them on a bike in Perth... not sure but think it was a Fat Bob... maybe Micks... certainly look great at night
Hey Volvi, I fitted one to my bike late last year, I know those bolts are frigging tight, but I got there in the end. Try finding a thread I started after I fitted mine, I gave a blow by blow account how I fitted mine. It just takes time & patience mate, fairly simple fit up in the end. It would make it easier if you have a bike lift though to allow the rear wheel to come down further. I didn't worry about removing any fuses or disconnecting battery when I did mine, I just didn't switch on ignition until job was done.
I just found my old post, you will find it in workshop general discussions, dated January 10 this year. It was quicker to find my post using the search function on this site, anyhow, good luck to you & anyone else attempting to fit this type of tail light.
