Talking to my local dealer about the cost of installing different cams in a new 09 tourer.

Is it worth the coin?   Or do you get similar results with just pipes / air kit / PCV and a good dyno tune?

Second question is if changing the cams does make a good difference,, why did HD put such poor performing cams in the stock 96" motor?

Out of curiosity, is it just because they are air cooled that HD has to go to such lengths to pass EPA laws? Or do The big Jap watercooled Vtwins have to do the same thing?

Scotty is right.  Remember that there are a whole lot of non harley mechanics out there that can fit cams and will probably do a better job than some of the dealer mechanics that I have experienced - plus they don't charge $110 per hour !! 

Check the forum as there are heaps of recommendations for good mechanics. Not sure where u are (ie what state) but I recommend P&L Performance in Sydney and have also heard good things about C & R and also Wild West Customs (also both in Sydney).

Thanks Scotty, unsure wether to do them my self or get the stealer to do them prior to delivery of my new Electra.  He is also is trying to sell me SERT or thundermax but TM is not compatable with TBW so I am left with TTS or SERT to choose from. But got a few months yet to go so am in no hurry to make a decission.

The way the Aussie peso is going against the green back I may as well get the Monster ovals from the stealer too, $1200, fitted with 10% discount so will see what happens over the next few months with exchange rate.

Well got a few months yet before delivery, so will see. Mufflers are in stock so biggy at this time.
