Hi all
I was out for a quiet little ride on friday night in Newcastle when I ran into an RBT unit
Passed the RBT no problem , but it wasn't until the police office went over the bike with a torch did he notice the Big radius pipes.
He didn't say it was too noisy , he just started on about having an engineering report for the pipes.
So I ended up with a defect notice and having to either re fit the standard pipes and get inspected or get an engineering certificate and a inspection.
I think the safer option will be to refit the originals to get off the defect notice then refit the big radius pipes and get a eng cert
My question is, has anyone treid to get Vance & Hines Big Raduis pipes on a 2007 dyna passed by an engineering certificate
If so , is there any hassle or mod to be made.
Ok there is a little more nosie, but they aren't that bad and the have a baffle in
jason
I managed to get to talk with one of the head inspects today and his view is as long as the big radius can get under the 94 Db limit, I should be able to get an engineering certificate, so I might have to have a go at making quieter baffles and experiment a little.
But he agreed about putting the stock pipes back on to get passed , I also removed the HI flow air filter and put evrything back to stock, what a BIG.... step backwards.
I might have to put on some harley slip on cans for time being, that should confuse the cops for time being.
I have attached two photos to this reply
The bike is a black 2007 superglide that has been dusted with rainbow flake, in low light it looks like a black metallic job, but in direct sunlight or street lights, all the colors come out.
The photo doesn't show the effect properly.
The second is the new seat done in metallic vinal
Do V&H do a temp slip on that reduces the Db, i have heard of other manufacturers doing this. great for the roadworthy.
that paint is real diff
HAD the fuckers on my train , had a mate put 3 slits in each baffle and then welded solid washers in the slits , i then wrapt the baffles and turned them upside down so them holes were facing the gas , the only thing that was any good doing this was the amount of jonnie walker we drank, apart from that it was a waste of time as the cunts were still way over the 92db we have here put the stockers back on in the end to get the defect of
I got passed with the standards pipes, no problem so I have ordrered on friday a set of screaming eagle slip ons for 07 models, they are suppose to be street legal in the states on stock bikes, I have been told they have the info stamped on the cans. I will take them over to the RTA inspector and get his opion when thay arrive.
I think I might pass on the idea of trying to get the big radius passed for time been.
I have been chatting with some of the guys at work, and the JAPS bikes and others are having the same problem.
One older gent who has a club reg for a Truimph thunder bird got knocked back for rego because his pipes weren't stamped, even though the pipes have been on the bike for the last twenty years
I don't know how the WA gov can think they can enforce a 92 Db limit when the Australain design rules is 94Db
Thanks for the other thread
Was in Frasers (Perth) today and noted that they now have a sign next to V&H pipes on show that basically states that Vance and Hines pipes are not street legal and do not comply with ADR regs.
Well just to finish off this thread, I have just recieved the new Scraming Eagle slip ons which are street legal
