Ride Str8

I am looking at putting a Ride Str8 on my 2008 Road King Classic.  Has anyone out there got any experiece with this model?  Did it help much if you have put one on?  The magazines all said the 2008 handled better because of the new top front and bottom front stabalizers and if that is the case I could not imagine how scary it must be to ride some of the earlier Road Kings at speed through bends.

Does anyone know if the Ride Str8 is a good rear engine stabilizer or should I be looking at other brands?

It seems I can buy one directly from Ride Str8 over the net but if anyone knows if they are available locally in Australia I would appreciate a reply.

    Thanks Fr3d

I have the 2008 model as well and at the time I read about the improved stabalizing and how it handled better than pevious models. Now they have brought out the 2009 model and have changed the frame set up, saying the same stuff. I remember hearing about the wobbles the pre 08 models used to get in the corners and people buying the stabilizer.
Personally I don't have any issue with the handling of the 08 model, but then again I don't roar through any twisties flat chat. Most of my riding is 2 up and I ride according to the load and the conditions. Interesting question though.........

I came across a guy that had done some research on the topic. I posted it here:

Admittedly, it was not about the 08 models, but it compares the units. I'm thinking of buying the TWR because a) it doesn't reduce ground clearance, and b) I'll still be able to use my bike lift (the true-track fits right where my lifter lifts).

I think I'll have to look into something like a ride str8.

After following skull up through the twisties at Colo Heights, the rear end feels like its connected with a bit of old rope.

But then maybe I'm expecting a bit much compared to my previous FXR Superglide.

Hey Gonzo, thanks for the link but it throw me back to Vtwin forum that for some reason I cant get onto. Have they changed the link or name of Vtwin forum, does anyone know?

True Track seems to be coping a bit of flack because it covers the sump and may cause heat issues and I cant afford to let the RK get any hotter than it already does.

Ride Str8 say it does not affect ground clearance but I dont know that for sure.

My 03 FXDWG had the same rear wheel steer problem as well but I just put up with it but I was expecting better from an 08 RK.

I will try to find some online comparisons.
