I think I'm up shit creek here. I've got a genuine HD locking fuel cap on my Fatty and the mechanism is just turning around when I try to unlock it. I pulled in to a garage to fuel up and couldn't get it off so had to ride home to have a proper go at it. So now the fuel is so low I don't think I'd get much further than the local garage anyway so I wouldn't make it to the dealer. Has anyone had one of these caps or any suggestions on how to get it off or get fuel into the tank so I can ride to a workshop?

Thanks Scotty but the design of this one has the cap freespinning until it is unlocked then it engages and is able to be unscrewed. What it's doing is just spinning around not unscrewing.

Tackled this 1st thing this morning with no kiddies around as I thought a rude word or two might slip out in the course of the long operation. Lucky the quality of the genuine HD cap wasn't there. I just wrenched the chrome top off the cap and unscrewed the plastic bit out of the hole. No damage to the tank and only took a couple of minutes. I'm off to fuel up now.
