If you were only changeing the pads, how did you manage to get air in the system ????
All you needed to do was to make sure that you had cracked the bleeder nipple on the caliper before you pushed the pistons back (usually most people forget this and then wonder why they have problems,as small pieces of crap are forced back in the master cylinder and cause the master cylinder seals to not be able to seal as the knife edge seal is damaged as it passes over a small piece of grit). When the pistons are back fully, close the bleeder nipple, fit the new pads and then,GRADUALLY pump the lever to push the pistons out till the pads meet the disc,if you overstroke the brake lever and forcr the mastercylinder pistonn/seal to travel further than its normal travel, you can again damage the knife edge seal as it passes over parts of the mastercylinder bore that may contain contaminates or rust particles on the bore that isn't normally used in normal brake operation, caused usually by moisture being absorbed by the brake fluid( as it is hygroscopic) which inturn can cause the mastercylinder bore to rust. That is why it is important that brakefluid is regularly replaced, and is an often overlooked service item.
