I'm sure that it is just an adjustment, take the bike back and tell them that you are not leaving until you are satisfied. Clunking into first gear is normal when the bike is cold. When you first start it let it idle for about 45 seconds not more than this and it will be a bit better. The 45 seconds just allows the oil pump to get the oil circulating...it should not clunk when the bike is at normal operating temp. Same as when you check your oil, take it for a 10 minute ride and then check it, this allows the bike to be at normal operating tempreture ......not cold and not to hot.
