Went to the Harley Ride day on Saturday and spotted a few other forum members while there, got to meet Magilla which was good, also saw
Aussietrain and Alby.  My main reason for going was to get some riding experience on a couple of different models as to date the only Harley I've ever ridden is my Sporty.

Had a ride on a couple of bikes: the XR1200 and the Street Bob.  Thought both were good the XR1200 probably impressed me the most, great acceleration and good overall feel, suspension felt great especially through the corners, hit a bit of a bumpy patch at one stage and it handled that great.  The riding position caught me a bit off guard being used to riding with forward controls but you'd get used to it pretty quick.  Not sure I'd like to go on an extended trip on one but riding locally on it would be heaps of fun.  Made a great sound too even with the crap stock pipes, I can't wait to hear one with a decent stage 1 kit on it.

The Street Bob was also good probably the best thing I liked about it was the seating position compared to the Sporty, low seat and high handlebars made for a pretty cushy ride.  Power wise I was pretty un-impressed with the stock big-twin compared to my 883/1200 stage 1 Sporty.  This was kind of good as it made me realise how good my bike accelerates with the mods I've done.  Didn't get a chance to do any decent speed as the riding was all around the city.  The vibrations on the Street Bob were pretty comparable to the rubber mount Sporty probably a little more if anything because of the bigger engine size.  Also found it a bastard to get the stand out, don't know if this gets better with practice?  Over all the Street Bob was great fun to ride.  I'd be happy to own one.

I wanted to ride the Softail Standard as well but I booked too late for that so I'll have to give that a try another day.

All in all it was great fun.

Sorry I missed you KC, I was there for the first two rides.  I rode the Cross Bones and the XR1200.  I enjoyed the XR1200 as was left wanting more of a ride as the City was a restriction to really seeing how the bike really handled.  The Cross Bones had a pretty soft ride with the springer front end and sprung seat, really felt like riding a lounge chair.  As you did, it was good to compare the performance between stock and my stage 1 tune, cleaner, pipes made to the Fat Boy also really noticed how much hotter the engine ran.

All in all it was good to ride other bikes and see how they compare.

Does that mean there,s a new bike on the way KC ,even worse does that mean your giving up on the Sporty
