I guess I should say g'day to all the folk here, so g'day from Andrew in Canberra.

I've been reading the site for months and just soaking it all in, trying to decide what to buy, but after 17 Jap bikes and a Triumph I took the plunge a month ago and bought a 06 Vanilla Dyna (FXDI) with stage 1 already on it and waited 4 weeks for it to make it's way across the country.

It arrived Sunday afternoon and I'm still cleaning dust and cobwebs of it.  I spent this morning taking her over the pits, transferred the rego and she passed first time through with flying colours.

Initial observations...

• the bike's not huge on HP, but I love the TQ
• I'm a short ass but I feel cramped - will probably need to get some kind of fwd controls to stop my rusty old hips from locking up
• I'm leaning forward far too much to comfortably reach the bars - will need to change the bars and/or risers
• Ride is very comfy 2up, again heaps of grunt for getting off the line

I'm not big on posting to the forum but I do read a fair bit of it.  I'll try to get some photos up but at the moment she's just a stockie with a handful of bling.

Hi Andrew, welcome and safe riding.

a short arse and cramped on a dyna such that your hips cramp.... fark... spare a thought for this old barstard.. at 6/3 I still have mid controls and from time to time the hips almost dislodge, but its much easier to flog around the corners on mids... still, have cruising pegs so i can stretch out from time to time

nice selection of bike... enjoy the crasy forum and the warm weather coming up
