Gday i just cked the plug leads on my bike i think the rear lead is no good. harley say the lead should be between 4842-13087 ohms when i tested it i got 07.29 ohms i have cked it a few times to be sure. the lead had a bit of a kink in it from where the factory had placed it im thinking the carbon may be shot. i have noticed on rear cylinder there seems to be a miss just above idle.when the bike is warm n i hit rougth road it seems to cogth n fart a bit.i cked the frount lead harleys specs are 2159-3086 i got 3.270 im thinking this isnt to bad a bit high but if i have to get new leads ill get both. any help with the results i got would be great its been a while since i used an ohm meter maybe should have listend a bit harder at tafe when i was getting taught on how to use them

just found in the book it measures in 400,4k,40k,400k,4m,40m. i had it on auto ranging when i tested the leads

Try useing the 40k Ohms setting, that will put you in the correct range to measure the leads.Don't worry too much about the actual figures as you will find a great deal of varience between meters, especially the cheaper ones. Also make sure before you test the leads, that you short the lead ends together and let the meter calibrate itself, most of the cheaper meters don't go to Zero when the leads are touched together, and they show a measurement of the internal mechanism of the meter.I have a $200 meter that shows a slight resistance reading and my $750 Fluke meter reads absolute zero when leads are shorted. As for resistance on plugs leads,a ballpark figure is always approx 15kOhms per foot, for a silicone /carbon lead. Also connect the meter leads to the metal ends of the spark plug leads and then flex and bend the leads and look for any great varience in readings.Iys not really rocket science, just a matter of knowing what to set the meter at and then making sure that the meter is zeroed.

Thanks all for help,i double cked leads with a work mate who nos a bit about electronics he said that the lead was fine he put the meter on it n did the wiggle test there wasnt much of a veriation doing the wiggle test. i have ordered a set of NGK plugs in will try new plugs to c if that fixes miss.thanks again for all the help

nobody is right.. should be K ohms... still it is really no good testing resistance as the problem is leads breaking down under load.. if you think its te leads then just best to replace

thanks uncle ho i didnt think of that its amazing the things u forget over the yrs better go n do a refesher course on mechanics again
