    G'day,

Are DOT approved helmets bought from USA legal or do you still need the aussie standard sticker on it?

    Cheers.

Our heads are so different to North American heads..... go figure.

That AuStandards thing is a virtual tariff/barrier to imported trade. Quasi protectionism.

If that sticker is sown onto the fabric on the inside then why the fark must it also be shown on the outside. I mean it is easier to transfer a sticker from one helmet to another rather than try a sow one into the internals??

After chasing around for months I finally tracked down an Rjays Sturgis in Mat black with no studs in size M. They are the ducks guts. About the smallest shell of any AS1698 lid. Try http://www.mcas.com.au. Send em an email and ask if they have em in stock. Maybe I got the last one hehehehe. That was last week so they might still have stock. I know the sturgis is in limited supply at the moment.

    Cheers

Yu beat me to it. Too slow loading up to photobucket. My Rjays is narrower than the THH and about a bees dick lower. Now we are gettin frigin nit picky eh.
Nu I mean if yu got a fat head and a small lid it will look smaller. Vis versa. But who gives a toss as long as it does its job right.

    On yu

yeah it is picky, ya just got me when ya said it was the ducks guts smallest shell. ya need a fucken measing tape to even notice the very little differance between the sturgis and any other open face.

I was reading on another site about the standards for MC hemets.

From what was posted if the helmet conforms to snell standards it's allowed.

As soon as I find the thread again I'll post a link.

i bought a DOT german helmet of e bay but its a bit rude, its quite big and wide and instead of the straps coming down straight they come in from the sides so they arent flat on the face and look not to cool,i seen guys in other ones that look shit hot,i wonder were they got em from and if they DOT, they seem to fit smaller, mine looks good till you put it on!! lol

I was pulled over by two police two weeks ago.
They saw my DOT helmet just made some comment like "their standard is really low.." nothing. Days after I saw Harley Davidson dealer was selling DOT helmet too. So I guess this is legal now (Mar 2019).

DOT is not legal here, ECE is now legal here though which opens us up to a lot of DOT/ECE approved helmets (I just got the new biltwell Gringo ECE).
I’ve been pulled twice in the last month, both times they went through the helmet checking tags, in the cops words ‘I don’t care about the sticker on the back, if there’s no tag sewn in I’ll book you’
