I used the "POR" version which is a 3 step process clean/convert/seal which I got from Harts auto paint supplies which are common here in Qld but don't know about the rest of Aus.
The POR website has a retailers listing.
Don't know what pressure it is but oil switch is HD part number 26552-72 so you could try the harley dealer or any independant Harley shops in your area.
There is likely a generic part but knowing which one is the question.
Hi Troy, Oil Switch part No aftermarket is Accel 181104. There is a source for Shovel parts you might try. Pacific HD Trading Co. They put out a catalogue which is free( they send it to you COD, works out to about 10 bucks.), and they specialise in Shovels. They are in West Gosford NSW and their Number is (02) 4322 1666. I'm sure they will have it. By the way, the tool kit suggested is for CYA (covering your ass) in long runs. Where anything and everything can and will go wrong, and by the way, Murphy was an optimist. For running around town you'd need only a portion of that gear. Easyest way to work out what you need is by breaking down, Ha Ha. Sad but true. In regards to your running problem when warm, Does it blow back through the carby? (sneeze), and does it do it when idling or on the move?. If it does it at idle first check your fuel line is not kinked or too close to or touching the cylinders, then try changing the mixture on the low speed needle (idle mixture screw in a bendix or Keihin) to slightly richer. Also check your float bowl and last but not least check your timing. Regards, Cris aka The Don.
G'day Troy,
I ran my Shovel without an oil cooler all its life. Never had a problem. If you are only going to use it to run around and have fun, and don't intend to do touring I'd take it off. If it's not there it can't break! In regards to your cough or sneeze through the carby. Sounds to me like a bit more juice on the low speed needle or idle mixture screw. ( Have never owned an S & S carby, so I'm not sure which it has.), and check the float bowl level anyway. Another thing I just remembered, Wheel and swingarm bearings and races are the same as Holden HQ/HZ ones, ABC bearings used to charge me $4.50 ea in the 80's whereas the Factory OEM through the Dealers sold for about $19 ea. Same bloody Timken bearing!! As far as comfort goes, the clutch lever can be improved by changing to the Dog lever style they brought out in 82.
Bugger, dinner's ready and the wife's a good cook.
Regards,
Cris
