Steve M (Rocker C) was telling me how he had been granted the plate "FX HOG" but that the DPI changed their minds and sent him a refund cheque. Seems like they've tightened up the words/letters that they accept. Here's a few of the restrictions:
Is a word or phrase that is protected by Registered Trade Marks
Is a trade name of a product
Is the make or model of a vehicle
Sooooooo no "Coca-Cola", no "Harley" or "Ford" or "Maserati". No "Fatboy" or "Dyna" or "Sportster" or "Falcon" or "Gallardo" and presumably no "FXDWG" or "FXCW" etc
How "FX HOG" fits into those is beyond me!
Looks like the Fun Police are on the rampage again!
Expanding on what Kiteman has said................
You also cannot have the following combinations
H4RL3Y; HARL3Y; C0CA C0LA ETC.... but they may allow H4RL3Y1... but not AHARLEY or AH4RL3Y
I was lucky when I got my plate... whilst they would not allow me HARLEY, I did get HARL3Y a couple of years back
Now you must have a minimum 3 letters as a combination with any trade name. Furthermore, you cannot exchange I=1; E=3 or O=0 in any trade name
My only other avenue is to write to HD explaining my circumstances and seeking their permission but I doubt even that would work because I heard on the grapevine that it relates to people profitearing by selling the plates privately.... plates like HARLEY would go for 1,000's
Got mine a few months back.
I applied and payed for 09FXCWC 2 weekks ago i'll be spewin if it dosnt come through. Will have to wait and see.
Whu Hoo! Pick my plates up yesterday I suppose Bones was right, it depends what mood the person that processes it is in,
Goodonya Strucweld !
I'm glad that went through OK !!! I guess they are more likely to pick up the "literal" model number or identifier (like "FXCWC" which got through last July but maybe not now). However, I just wonder how on-the-ball their "committe" is ever going to be. As long as you get in early with a a new model name I reckon you'd beat them to it!!
It's all a bit of a game but worth playing!
