And this time it was me !!!
Just got back from hospital. Luckily nothing's broken and no serious damage, only soft tissue injuries and I'm in a lot of pain. RHS ribs (front and back) and right shoulder hurts like fu*k. Thanks God for Panadeine Forte (and good, old Polish vodka). Had my thick jeans trousers, gloves and leather jacket on so I didn't leave any skin on the road.
Bike wasn't so lucky:
Handlebars bent, both RHS foot pegs, foot brake pedal, front indicator damaged.
Pipes scratched, tank and 105 anniversary logo damaged. Mirror's fu*ked, few other scratches and bends.
Helmet is rooted too
What happened you may ask?
I was in a right lane going through a two line roundabout stright ahead, next to me in a left line was Holden Statesman. A female driver, without indicating, turned right in front of me. She not only cut me off but also cut into my line. Her vehicle hit my front wheel and sent me to the floor.
My right foot got pinned under the bike and I couldn't move as I hit the ground quite hard and was in a lot of pain. Luckily a young bloke (from Mandurah - I will never say a bad word about people from Mandurah) stopped and lifted the bike and pushed it off the road. He was right behind me and saw everything.
The bitch didnt stop immediately, drove off to a carpark (some 500 mtrs away) and slowly walked back.
So now I'm fu*ked, the bike is fuc*ed and the warm weather just begun - irony of life. I shouldn't complain too much though - yes I'm in pain but otherways not harmed and the bike will be fixed (eventualy).
I certainly hope so.
Her car is fully insured and the witness who saw everything told me that she didn't indicate and cut me off so it looks like it was etirerly her fault.
Damn M8 what a shocker, but, most importantly, ya walked away, hope ya heal soon.
Glad you're not badly hurt, I would have smacked the bitch in the gob for driving off (but at least she came back) hope the bike is repaired fast and you're back riding soon.
Regards Bob
Damn,
Another 105th anniversay down.
Glad your alright to a degree though.
I'm close to getting my 105th back to normal bar a few scratchs on some minor parts but the tank is next on the list, I'm getting mine repaired as the 3+ month backlog wait on a replacement tank to come from the states is too long for getting around with a dinged tank, plus I'm paying for the repairs myself rather then going through the insurance and all up I should just come under the cost of my insurance excess with replacement parts.
Hey Czarek.... sorry to hear mate least you are relatively OK and thats the main thing....
I almost always use the RH lane through those roundabouts.... make sure you file a police report!!!! I know you always indicate so she should have seen you.....
Hope you are on the road soon... get the bike roadworthy then worry about the rest, that way you can at least ride whilst waiting the bling to arrive
M8 glad your ok ...............Dont stress to much on the bike , that can be fixed,
Hope you have a speedy recovery, bike might take longer but you're okay and that is the main thing. Stupid Fuggin Cow, round a bouts are the worst place, they only brought in round a bouts to save on trafic lights I recon.
thanks for all your concerns and replys guys. that's what this forum is all about - mateship.
We take a piss out of each other, we may not agree on some subjects but when one of us is hurt, we all come together.
to all forum members, those whom I had a pleasure to know and ride with and those whom I'm yet to meet - thank you.
Police report is done, insurance claim done. I'm waiting for pick-up truck to take the bike to frasers and assess the damage.
Today I inspected the damage closer and it doesn't look that bad. Most of the damage is to bolt on stuff so that should be no problem. The worst is a dent in the tank and big scratch to 105 anniversary logo. Guess will have to wait for a new tank from states.
At least I will be able to ride while waiting for the tank.
Will keep you posted.
Ah what a turn of events mate, gee I hope your OK. Get yaself fixed mate, take it easy and hope to see ya back on the road soon.......................Bastid drivers need the rough end of a pineapple............
Bt
Czarek,
Sorry to hear about the stack mate. Glad to hear you escaped any serious injury.
I'm constantly amazed at the amount of idiot drivers that know the rules of a two lane round about, I rekon they should throw the book at that bloody cager!
Big thank you to you all for your support (not too many "you" in this sentence? must be bloody foreiner)
Too right Crasher, that's exactly what happened. She not only went right from the left line but also cut my line. Had she stayed in the left line I would have avoided her by turning right and going around the roundabout. After all we were doing 20 - 25 Km /h.
One positive came from this crash - my opinion about young blokes changed 180*. If I saw him somewher else - walking through the City for instance, I wouldnt give him second thought. 17 - 18 years old, baggy 3/4 pants, scruffy looking T-shirt, baseball cap worn wrong way around - you know the type. He couldn't be more helpful. As I wrote before - he lifted the bike off my foot (not an easy task), pushed it to a safe spot and parked it, helped me to my feet as I was hurting as fuck, stayed with me all the time, asked if I want an ambulance and at the end told me that he saw everything and would be happy to be my witness. Great young man - and from Mandurah - what can I say.
Bike is going to Frasers tomorrow. Already spoke at lenght with the service dept and they assured me that they will look after me. Will see.
QUESTION: can I claim a helmet? I hit the road quite heavyli and the helmet struck the road too. Expert say that you should not wear the same helmet any more so can I get a new one and will the insurance pay for it?
Thanks again and I will kep you updated.
Czarek
P.S. Still popping Panadeine Forte (washed down with icy cold vodka) - better than weed
Thanks gents.
Bano - I'm with Western QBE.
Bike is in Frasers and i will be there first thing in the mornig tomorrow.
Thanks again
OK; latest update.
Western QBE assessor had seen the bike and authorised the repairs on Monday.
Frasers placed an order for the new parts on Tuesday and I have to wait ..... 4 to 5 weeks for them to arrive - and that does not include the new tank.
The tank is 3 to 4 months away. So I'm pissed off as I am 3 weeks without the bike already and will be bikeless for further 5 weeks. It sucks !!!
I am much better now, still a bit of pain in the ribs area but it's getting better.
