This is all good positive information, the sooner they start implementing these changes the better.

I think that it is a good start, but are we missing something?....what about these waste of space judges who let repeat drink drivers and unlicenced car drivers off all the time. Dont you think that we should fix up one thing and getting it correct before implimenting new laws. Sack the judges and let the jury decide the punishment

we have p-platers here too bucket. been like that for a while.
but ya dont have to display a p-plate if ya ride a bike. only tin tops have to display em at the moment.

so wake yaself up and give yaself an uppercut.

i reckon its crap that you have to have a car license before you can even get ya learners for bike now.
should be the other way round. takes more skills to ride a bike than rolling around in a cage.

Getting off the point here a bit...but who cares i will say it anyway, whitey if you think that they should learn to ride a bike 1st, i think that all people should learn to drive everything so that they know hard and different every vehicle is. Driving truck should be made a must do as i am sick of idiots who have no idea changing lanes in front of you as you are trying to pull up at traffic lights in a fully loaded semi. Riding bikes is a similar thing. I recon that every school aged kid should go to a defensive driving school, that will save more lives than a P plate.

Attitudes need changing more than a law or some requirement... And they're the hardest thing to change.

Until then I'll continue to be doubly-cautious around taxis, muzza-drivers (in my car or on the bike) and trams and their tracks.

Sorry Flan, normally I pretty much agree with your opinion, but in this instance, If ya don't eat, ya don't shit, if ya don't shit, ya die... That is surely an immediate concern... (I luvs me food) he he... - Sump...

This is off topic but what they need to do is get rid of the stupid noise pollution rule. While you may not like the sound of a Harley coming past, it allows you to know that there is a rider there and to take caution, especially with so many people blasting music these days.

Unfortunatley beginner drivers think the "P" Plate stands for PHASTER If I see a P Plate driver showing attitude.I stay back ,I'd rather have them in front. The easiest thing to do in or on a motor vehicle is excelerate, there's nothing in front of you and you are not stressed with other discisions, But here is the problem, BRAKING, very few people and I include experienced motorists can safely stop at high speeds without locking brakes and veering of track. I remember reading somewhere on this forum riders who don't use their back brakes and claimed to use the superior technique.I also remember reading where people have crached because the didn't know how to cope with the vibration of their ABS  If people were trained how much skill and effort it took to correctly stop a range of vehicles we'd be on the right path. Driver training needs to cover reaction training as in advanced training systems.Give them a reason to respect the road and other road users. a little bit of fear goes a long way.

You said my thoughts Zed, spot on.I know banning booze completely is the only way I think  would work, but that is impossible, nearly everyone drinks. But some people like myself shouldn't. I gave up the piss(and the smokes!) for my family's sake approx 17 years ago, best thing I've ever done. A lot of people handle booze fine, have fun, a ripper of a time and general all round non eventful happenings. BUT SOME!!!!!! like myself that start drinking can't stop and do not give a rats arse about booze bus's, RBT's, highway patrols catching you(if they can!) hitting someone else, killing yourself or maiming some other innocent victim etc. Once the piss is in ya brain nothing on the planet matters. Obviously not the case with a lot of you. The money wasted on TV/Newspaper ads and the like does not make one bit of difference. I knew that once I started drinking that was it, get outta me way or else. A complete arsehole. The things I found out about what I had done from bouts of "drinkies" was mindblowing and very upsetting to say the least.    One morning I woke up in a laneway, beside my bike, bugs all over it, and I was freezing bloody cold. Ah shit! I thought,I've ridden in the Cross (Kings Cross Sydney) again! which is about an hour ride from my place,(Engadine). I remember seeing lots of black and white number plates on the cars, what gives? what the hell's going on type thoughts. I walked out of the laneway turned left/right/left etc and was staring at Flinders St railway station in Melbourne, Victoria and don't remember riding at all the 1000 odd k's to get their. Yeah right, decrease the amount of alcohol, more RBT's, bullshit, won't make one bit of difference at all. I laugh at my old goings on, but the Laws of today are not going to stop people from drinking/ speeding/fighting/shooting/bashing etc etc etc, no way jose. Look at all the happenings in the news, one or the other or both, is shitfaced from something.         Cop them apples Zed! food for thought eh..   Better go for a ride, having a flash back.      P:S What do you get when you cross a Jehovahs Witness with a bikie?    A big ugly bastard that bangs on ya door and tells you to F**K OFF!!!
