Hi all... today i went through the process of fitting new handle bars.... mechanically all went well... everything fits ok... but them dam electrical plugs have some sort of trick to them.... can anyone help with how to dismantle them so i can get the wires through the bars? i could cut them but i don't want to... any details would be greatfully appreciated... cheers.... Thanks Bli Bli Bandit..... i hunted around and got all the info on those connectors and did come across that one too..... all went well till i tried to stick the throtle tube on and could you believe it... the bar was swollen where they punched the whole for the internal wiring..... lucky i didn't put the other side on first... phew!!!
anyway here is a paragraph on how to dismantle those DEUTSCHE CONNECTORS.....
The Deutsche connectors have an orange cap on the end, which you can pry off with a small screwdriver. Once that cap is removed, you'll see a plastic clip, which holds the wire terminal. Gently pry the tab away from the connector and pull each wire from the connector. The earlier "Mate 'n Lock" connectors have a metal barb built into the wire terminal. You'll need a small pick to bend the tab back inside the connector, to pull each wire out of the connector. Bend the tab back to it's original position and you can reuse the same terminal.
