I am thinking of getting some V & H short shots for my Sporty 883.  What do you think?

I love my short shots, check around the other topics re: quieter baffles, fuel pack, a/c

They're loud as f@#k, but sooo worth it!!!!

I've got similar pipes. I like the performance, the lower cost & noise from short shots.

My advice is wrap up the baffle with baffle wrap and or steel wool & its not too loud on the long trips but still sweet sounding. (The neighbours might not kill u either!).

What about the power loss that you will get from shortshots, I wouldn't go with them just for looks when they rob you of so much power ??

    lose power?

where not at the dragstrip here, well im not anyway.

its a fucken tractor, plenty of power still. the power loss is fuck all.

it reaches the speed limit no wuckers. if i want to go faster quicker, i certainly wouldn't buy a harley.

Same here, but I wouldn't buy a Harley then try and make it go slower either. Have a look in the latest Heavy Duty mag in Tech Torque, a dyno tuner reckons you lose at least 15% power and usually more with short shots. 15% of fuck all is pretty significant.

You can't lose what you never had. They do suit your bike Whitey but It"s too late for me.

The Tootu would do it.Anyway, speed is only excessive when you crash and everyone gets a chance to say I knew that would happen.

I bought mine before the bike had even landed, the look was enough to convince me, black pipes on black bikes look cool...........

Peter, just asking coz I haven't seen that article yet, do they mean you lose 15% power from the stock HD pipes ?

    coz i seriously doubt that.

When I put mine on in conjuction with the ness big sucker and tuned it with the PC3, the increase in get up and go was very noticeable.

Of course in getting rid of the standard A/C and pipes you get rid of the inlet and outlet butterfly valve restrictions so it has to be an improvement in power surely ?

I don't think they meant that Daggs, I assumed it meant you would lose 15% compared with standard headers and S.E. (or other) muffs and a filter.
