My neutral light stays on and I need to make sure that the neutral switch on my bike is stuffed and that its not something else, whats the best way to check? Just pull one of the wires off it and see if the light goes off?

The dealer, PS,  want it during the week for warranty but I cant get it there till a saturday and they dont have a qualified mechanic there on a saturday, so I can leave it there for a week, or pay to get it trailered in or fix it myself which is a hell of alot cheaper.

An auto electrician might find what's wrong with it.

i had a bit of the same prob with my 08 dyna but only after i washed it , it would flicker on & off in all gears but has'nt done it for a while now

    seens to have fixed itself

maybe if ya disconect the plug under the speedo n blow it out & plug back in n see what happens

I've pulled the 2 plugs off the switch, sprayed some wd40 on them and put them back on to clean out any moisture that might have been there but that didnt work. Also, it stays on most of the time, but not all the time.

Things under warranty so they'll fix it, but I am stuck without my bike for a week since I cant get to PS unless its on a saturday

Just pulled the switch out and it moves alright, but my mate checked it with a multi meter and its the switch thats gone, I'll book it in for next saturday for them to replace the switch. Surely they dont need a highly qualified mechanic to do that

So the switch didnt fix, I thought it was a bad earth from the bolt that the pillion seat strap goes to rear guard with. I found that was a bit loose, tightened it and all was good.

    BUT

Now I have no right rear indicator, there is no power going to it, and on monday the neutral light started staying on again.

Anyone know where the earth goes to for the neutral switch or for the rear right indicator?

PS, the dealer, can only do it during the week and I cant get it there apart from on the weekends, so if I have to pay for a tow to PS, Id rather spend my money at an auto elec and just get it fixed properly

So today we disconnected both wires from the switch. But, when I ride it the light still comes on.

Sounds real spooky..... hope it don't burst into flames..... i would have thought you could use your "Harley Assist" and get them to take it to PS..... it sounds like you have a bad earth somewhere.... just keep looking or wait till the dealer sorts it out for ya...

Thomo - if you give me your email I will send you a circuit showing the connectivity between the neautral switch and turn signal module - in the meantime double check the plug and socket connections on the turn signal module

Indicator fixed now, broken connection in the indicator itself.
