    Hi Guys,

    Ok, 2 things...

    1. went to buy some draggin jeans from local bike shop, they had fuck all in stock (suprise, suprise) got talked into some SHIFT Lodown jeans that looked pretty good, but when I got home read tag properly and saw that they are only 8% kevlar and the draggins are 100% ... doh!! will take them back I guess and have to wait till in the city next to buy some draggins.

unless someone can convince me that the Shift ones are OK

    2. I thought that Draggin Jeans was an Aussie company, their web site says so but there is a US website that says that it is American?   WTF ?

    see below

    From Aussie site

    About Us
Hal Baxter founded Fast Company in 1993 and shortly began marketing his new invention, Draggin' Jeans. The now famous image of Hal dragging behind a pick-up truck comes from his early R&D work with Draggin' Jeans. Unsatisfied with the sandbags he initially employed to test his new invention, Hal put his ass on the line, literally. Only a genuine body provides realistic weight distribution for testing seam strength and wear to pressure points. After several revisions, Draggin' Jeans were born. Hal's "eureka!" moment came one Sunday afternoon in the midst of a sweltering ride. Hal and a friend stopped for some ice cream to cool down. While waiting in line in some very colorful racing leathers, a small boy gazed transfixed at the pair of motorcyclists. After a few moments of silent contemplation the boy turned and yelled " Hey, Mama! Look at the clowns!" Hal decided there must be a better way. He developed Draggin' Jeans as an alternative to hot, bulky, unfashionable leathers. Draggin' Jeans are perfect for those times when leather is too much of a hassle. Draggin' Jeans are lined with Kevlar®. Kevlar® is one of the toughest, strongest materials in existence and is used for a variety of applications that require high strength-to-weight ratios (bullet-proof vests, aerospace construction, driver’s helmets, etc.). Five times stronger than steel yet soft and pliable, Kevlar® fabric lines the knees and seat of our jeans, providing superior protection where the motorcycle rider most needs it.

    Hey Daggs,

SHIFT Lodowns are ok, but if you compare them directly to Draggin's, they don't have nowhere near as much kevlar. They have several stretch panels and kevlar is stiched through with nylon. I am certain they won't give you nowhere near as much protection as Draggin"s. They are however much more fashionable. So if protection is what you want, than you can't go past Draggins.

Personally I bought a pair 3 weeks ago and done over 1000kms in them. Absolultely love em, comfy and cool even in 30C+ days. I am about to order another pair of classic blue Draggins.
Also check out ebay, they sometime have some cheap draggins...

    Cheers

Well i definatly would go the draggins for peace of mind and as for the dealer you blokes are reffering to Laurie Fox Honda i assume i think you should try some adelaide big dealers and a lot of them have even less range and your lucky if they even talk to you absoulutly jack shit service. I live in strathalbyn and travel down your way every two to three weeks and have got to know David quite well and if i want something i ring him a couple of days before heading down and the part or clothing is always there most time overnighted and always discounted and i buy a fair amount. It called getting some repore with your dealer if they get to know you and you buy a bit from them i've always found you get a lot more done for you and usally get reasonable discounts as well . Maybe you fellas should try it and you might like to consider he may well be the next harley agent in your area , in saying that i still get most my harley parts overseas due to excessive mark ups here but i find with most other bits and clothing Dave always gives me as good a price thats going round and let me tell you i check. I also run a small business and unfortunatly due to overdrafts, finances etc its impossible to have every size shape etc catered for in stock so lighten up and if you ask most things can be got within a couple of days and if you want a certain product stick to your guns don't be talked round and wait the few days for it to arrive.

I've had my Draggin Jeans for about 12 months now, plenty comfortable and it's nice to know there's an extra little bit of something between your skin and the road.

I work in a business wear environment and since I ride to work, I've gotten around the dress code by buying a pair of $20 black jeans from Target every couple of months (Dress pants just dont offer the same warmth and protection).
While they're still fresh and black they just look like black pants, but after a few washes they start to look more like the jeans they are.
I've been toying with the idea of buying some Draggin Chinos, but I've only ever seen them on the web site. Has anyone here had them??

Not got the Chino's but have a pair of Urbans and Silverbacks... both very comfy. I wait for a PSB group buy as I get them for a good price :) see a guy a few weeks back get hit at an intersection, incredible what protection his Draggins gave. All he did was talk about how good they were!!!

No probs guys i'm just putting my view out there not looking to bang heads at all and johno i really have understated my friendship with hutch to the point i stay with dave and sue when i'm down your way and as stated is often and likewise when they come up this way. I can't really go into the whole deal but as you know he bought his brother in law and sister out recently which as you could imagine took a lot of his excess capital so he is not able to carry as much stock until turnover and profits allow so nows as good as time to buy heaps and help get some extra business in and ultimately it will allow to increase his stocking level. I think you understand what i'm saying so we will leave it at that and i'm involved in the wholesale side of the car and farm machinary so i visit all the dealers in that area as well covering as far west as ceduna and all dealers in between so i cover some miles . Anyhow no hard feelings here maybe i'm a little to close to this one so i'll bail out now and i understand its frustrating when there's little selection of some of the simple things but a little paitence and support from the locals certainally would go a long way here.

Yeah would be good to catch up and Johno will arrange a ride with you soon, it's just so freakin busy this time of year,

having young kids we have something on nearly every day and night.

    Crasher,

the 100% doesn't mean that the kevlar covers 100% of the total jeans, it just means the areas that have got kevlar lining are made of 100% kevlar

but thanks for the heads up, maybe the camos have a lesser grade kevlar,

I doubt it though but will check it out anyway.

No probs Johno see what i can do about a catch up and yes pretty much nail and head less stock or those two still there well i think we know the answer to that question and yes some sacrifices had to be made and it reflects atm but hopefully it will sort out soon.
