It finally happened yesterday. Driving my beloved RX-7 with the missus. Lost the last 2 points on my Driving Licence. Even my trusty Radar Detector could only sing as I was zapped by a laser gun from over 400m away on Great Eastern Highway on the way to Northam near the Lakes. I was clocked at 95 in an 80 zone. I really should be locked up and the key thrown away as I'm such a risk to the community. Lock up your daughters, your Harleys,  your beer collections and your garden tools as I'm a great danger until I'm removed from the world of driving!

I will stretch it out for as long as possible so I don't lose it until I'm a bit more ready.... like middle of winter and overseas on holiday...... all I can say is

    FUCK 'EM !!!!!

I took the double jeopardy option earlier this year too, if I loose it for 3 months I may as well loose it for 6, I'm better off hoping to christ I can avoid the Five-Oh until this time next year.

    Tis a shit thing Kiteman

Kiteman, what do you reckon the chances are of gettin' done again in the next 3 months if you just pull yer head in and behave a little, next to none I say, so, keep on keepin on & if ya do get unlucky surely it was one of your mates or missus they snapped. he he...

I lost my license when I was driving Taxi's part time, then lasted the 12 months on one point. You just have to make up your mind not to speed anywhere anytime ever. Nearly killed me, but I needed it for work. A friend of mine just lost his license for 3 years poor bugger, now the Harley just sits in the garage.

Thanks guys!!!..... lots of understanding and some very sensible comments there!!! My other 'arf contacted the SYSTEM yesterday and as mentioned earlier, the points are "awarded" as and when you pay the fine so why not stretch it out a bit which I intend to. Why make it easy for the bastards!!??

In WA, It only costs an extra $13 for each month that you DON'T pay your fine. You can get away with it for at least 3 months and maybe more. Eventually, the fines department guys can suspend your licence for "non-payment of fines".This would be a good time to finally pay the fine!!!

After you pay the fine they will eventually send you a letter to tell you that you are going to lose your licence and that you have 28 days to take it in.

When you do that (probably on day 28!!! ) they give you Notification of Intention to Suspend your Licence. You HAVE to wait 28 days for them to do this and you CANNOT shorten that period! Not like the old days!

I figure I will try and stretch it out till early winter so I can enjoy my new Rocker in great weather!!

I'm sick of pussy-footing around with 10 points up and trying to enjoy myself. I really need to let my hair down and fuck-it if I get pulled up. At least, if I do the time, I get my Licence back with zero points again.

I'm generally pretty good on the bike as my missus is usually on the back but in the car it's SO easy to speed. I found a top spot about 40 minutes from Perth where you can hit 200 quite safely on a dead straight back road. My car can do around 290 but I didn't want to push my luck!! hahahaha!!! I just need that bloody runway!!

How about the new Bunbury Freeway extension??? What if you got in there on a Sunday a few days before opening..... moved a few witches hats...........after all, it's not a "public road" until it's opened. There won't be any cameras or cops...I know a bloke who works on it..... HMMMMMM!!!!! I'll work on this.... :))

Kiteman, I think you may be wrong on the last point.

A road becomes "public road" not when it's open to the public but when it is "gazetted" in the Government Gazette, which can happen months before the road is open.

Check it out before you attempt breaking the land speed record because you will be done for reckless driving if you exceed posted speed limit by 45 km/h. And then you will loose your licence for much longer

I think you're dead right czarek! I'm not a hoon, honest officer. I've never been booked in a 110 zone. I'm a bit paranoid these days though and spend so much time watching the speedo that I'm likely to miss the road signs! At least I'll end up with a clear licence for a while.

Thanks RT, I plan on doing just that. It's only about $13 extra fine per month for non-payment so I plan to stretch it out a bit. The next 5 moths are the busiest of my year when I need a vehicle to cart gear around. If I get my actual ban in say February it will help me quite a bit. I may even take a train or bus for the first time!!!

I can't wait to get a Licence with zero points on it!!!

Gomez is right. You can ring DPI and ask them about your points. They will tell you how and when you lost - sorry, gained them.

3 years from the first point/points being "credited" to your licence they disappear. If you have 1 or 2 coming back in say January or February it's worth stretching the payment till then.

Visit  www.dpi.wa.gov.au/licensing and have look around.

Thanks again guys. Already done. In WA there is an automated reply service. You punch in your Driving Licence number and it tells you the dates and points lost at each offence. The first 2 points I "gained" are not due to be redeemed for about another 2 years.   I clocked 2 points for doing 63 in a 50 on my WideGlide one Sunday. All the other points were from my car with 6 on Easter Sunday with double de-merits. Shit happens.

Stretching out the payment time is a good thing to leave you to almost autumn. You haven't admitted liability til you make payment. Also, there's usually 28 days to sit out til they take back and suspend your licence (I know in Vic this is the case).

We'd be better off being charged a dollar each time we start up an engine rather than this bullshit $$$-thieving way they do things currently.

We need the Greek approach - they kept on smashing cameras/radars til the government gave up with them.

Haha gold.  I never thought of such stoogery.  Would be perfect if you could jam the stem of a leaf in under the plate's frame :)

Keep the leaf fresh so it doesn't wither away...

Like anything, its all about how confident you are with being oblivious to this fact - to bluff the Old Bill if they ever got interested.  I keep a heap of Canuck paraphenalia around the bike and car and turn the accent to full Canuck (it normally is a muddled mix of Canadian/Australian) when ever under the spotlight - being totally foreign always helps arguments of mild ignorance :)

On the leaf thing, they probably could match up make of car/color/stickers on the back if they have a partial plate info via camera (if they were going you hard).  Love the idea all the same!
