Black engine paintwork

A while back I was wondering how I could keep the nice new look of the black on the motor, the parts that are not chromed or polished.

So I enquired at my favourite bike shop, what is the best product to do the job. I was shown a can of S100 Engine Brightener, which I purchased and gave it a burl.  I washed the bike and applied this stuff as directions stated. After the next big ride I noticed the next day that the dust that hit all the forward facing surfaces stuck to the black and it looked shit. So washed the bike again trying to remove the attached fine dust, which was pretty hard to do. It almost look like it was an oily substance in the spray that has attracted the fine dust particles. I'm dissapointed, and feel the $14 was a bloody waste of money. The dust was from just normal highway riding, no dirt roads.

    Any ideas ?

there is a waterless washing spray ('wash and wax' i think) that works really well on keeping th black parts looking good, prob coz it puts a nice film of wax over it.

i use S100 engine brightener for the black parts of my motor.

you just spray it on and it looks like brand new.
