Afternoon I have just joined the group I live in Queensland and have just bought a FLHTCUI cruiser wondering if anyone has a problem with the heat that comes off the motor burning the inside of your legs while sitting at lights.
    Thanks Nick

G'day, they came from the factory running pretty lean, a good tune sorts most out, if it's still not acceptable after that you can buy heat deflection shields, there are also cooling fans you can bolt on to help keep the engine cooler, an oil cooler can help as well, I lived in the ville for 20 plus years, just tuned mine to get rid of the heat.

Tune will help cool her down.  I thought these new fancy ones turned of a jug when at the lights to help keep things cooler as well.

Mate there is no way you can wear shorts I always wear longs don't like gravel rash either, I rode out west the temp was 40 deg the old girl was sitting on 110c if you stopped it was not nice on the legs.
    Cheers Nick

Fully agree on that  but you see enough blokes wearing them. Still, no one appointed me the fashion police, so let it go by.
Is the bike still completely stock?
What a few people have said, a tune will almost certainly drop the engine temp and make it run better too.
    A good place to start.
But some days it's just bloody hot. When it's 42° in the shade and there's no shade because you're half way between Winton and Mt Isa, any air cooled donk's gonna run hot.

Yes a tune would help as HD's run pretty lean standard, a free flowing exhaust without a cat helps also- if it hasn't already been changed
