LHS indicator issue

Hi guys, back on again for sage advice.
All of a sudden the front and rear left indicator lights stopped working and I noticed a red key illuminated on my display.
The bike is a 2006 Dyna fyi.
Have checked the globes and they are fine, the rhs indicators work fine.
I suspect the TSSM, the reason for this is after checking the globes I then dismantled the switch/horn assemble to see if I was getting power to the switch. When I activated the indicator switch they came on for a few seconds before flashing erratically then stopped.
On trying this again I heard a strange noise coming from the TSSM and quickly fading away, then on trying the rhs indicator which worked fine and no noise from the TSSM.
Welcome any advice on this please, I do not want to purchase a replacement unit as they are around $640 only to see no change.
Thanks guys
Stuart

Long shot. Have a look at the wiring that runs through the rear guard - above the tyre. I shredded some of the wires on a lowered 2005 Dyna when I bottomed out the suspension on a pothole. Caused all sorts of weird behavior with the indicators. Red key rings a bell too - though this was a long time ago.

Hi Stuart,
Did some testing and things seemed ok on the wiring side of things so I bit the bullet and purchased a new TSSM (now obsolete) now a TSM2 which took two weeks to arrive.
Fitted it and no change, so I looked a little further into the wiring ….disconnected the plug which the wiring for the indicators and back light is found under the seat, then tried the indicators again and the front left came on fine.
Tested the wiring back to the tail lights and found an earth on the positive of the lhs indicator, traced it to where the lhs indicator wire plugs into the rear light assembly and found an intermittent earth fault when I moved the indicator housing, pulled out the globe assembly and could see slight damage in the insulation which is now fixed and all is well.
I then replaced the original TSSM and it works perfectly well, the intermittent earth fault threw me off.
Every day is a school day.
Cheers
Fault found inside the conduit that the indicator is attached to.

Looks like the genuine indicator relocation kit by the photo there, a lot of faults are introduced when mods are made that may not rear their heads for years to come and/or changes in ownership, good job finding the problem, shame about the expense but you now have a good spare 😁👍

I had a similar intermittent problem with the right hand blinkers. I pulled the switch apart hoping to find something obvious but no luck so I kept going but couldn't find anything wrong.
As a last resort I sprayed the fuck out of everything with WD40 and it fixed it. Probably a dodgy earth I would think.
