2008 factory security/alarm grief ?

    All sold new in Australia Harley models since 2007 came with standard factory security systems, with 2 proximity fobs.
    Some ADR or import passing necessity at the time.
    Most used US imports since did not have factory security as it was extra cost there, and very few buyers took the option.
    Factory security was only on the USA domestic market CVO models as original factory fit.
    Other than CVO's all the grey imports I have worked on (many many dozens) none had the factory fob type security.
    My own 2008 CVO (used from Texas in 2011) had the security fobs, but no siren, maybe a Texas thing, states do vary.

    A good mate of mine loved my CVO Springer and bought one himself from an HD dealer in North Carolina from photos.
    Not quite as nice cosmetically at the time as mine, with higher mileage, and from a "damper" state with summer humidity.
    Still a nice bike, as mine came from a carpeted multi car home garage and had only 6,300 miles ( 10,000 K's)
    Of late the factory alarm on that has been giving him (and us FFsake) the shits, going off constantly.
    I serviced it 2 weeks ago (overdue!) and had to wear shooting ear defenders, kunntuuva thing.

    Off on the internet trawl (remembering few Yank home market bikes have this chit) and it is looking like the 9V rechargeable battery, which is only supposed to have a lifespan of 6 years, and I have NEVER replaced one ?
    Probably corroded junctions somewhere at or around it.
    That's my next job faaark...$100+ to buy the wee jigger, better be that !

    Pissing off the factory security is not that straightforward sadly, you have to replace the security system equipped TSSM with a TSM (turn signal security module / turn signal module) which is Rex Hunty, and I believe requires the dealer digitech.

    Anybody had same or similar alarm dramas ? I have done the search function thing already

    Does the alarm go off if you rip the maxi fuse out or pull the earth off the battery? Not how you do it it deliberately with the key on off and pull it in 3, just walk up to the fucker and pull it surprise like.
