How much Damage?

My friend bought a 2006 softail fxst. One day he was riding it and it just shut off. now has no spark. Looked up error codes and it has a list. Cleared them and retried, same list again so i know all codes are current. List of error codes are: P0261, P0263, P1002, P1003, b1005, b1006, b1007, (t gives - no rSP). Also found some wires in his right hand switch cluster had shorted after being pinched in a handlebar change which had blown acc fuse. Repaired wires and now fusee does not blow but still no start and same error list.
Could power short have damaged a control cpu or something else?
Does this list of codes point to any suspects?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thank you.

Might make it easier if you list the codes with their fault cause, rather than everyone having to look them up .
    Just a thought 👍

Yeah, good point. Will get onto it.

    P0261 - Cylinder 1 circuit low.
    P0263 - Cylinder 1 contribution/balance fault
    P1002 - System relay coil high/shorted
P1003 - System relay contacts open
    b1005 - Fuel level sending unit high/open
b1006 - Acc line over voltage
    b1007 -Ignition line overvoltage

Sounds to me like wires have fused elsewhere in the loom. Does this sound right or is there some common point in the system that may do this?

A hard one to diagnose, but definitely a power issue !!
The ECM has a 12v switched power output and a 5v sensor output .
It sounds like the ECM may be fried, but it could still be other issues .
With a bike that has been played with, and showing issues with pinched wires, we have no way of
knowing what else is lurking .

Here is a link to the wiring diagrams if you need them.

You could have a few issues going on, I wouldn't toss the ECM just yet, a few things to check according to google as I'm not home to check the service manual.......
    Failed System Relay.
Can cause for the P-series codes. If the relay fails, the fuel pump won't prime and the injectors won't receive power, leading to a "no start" or intermittent shutdown.
    Voltage Regulator Failure.
High voltage codes (B1006/B1007) could be the regulator is allowing too much power into the system, which can fry other components or trip safety codes.
    Corroded Fuse Block.
Moisture or debris in the fuse/relay area can cause poor connections, leading to "open" or "low" circuit codes.
Faulty Battery/Grounds: Loose or corroded battery terminals and ground wires can cause erratic voltage readings and multiple simultaneous codes.
Hope that's some help, will check the manual later and see what else looks like a culprit.

For what it's worth the standard ECM is a hardy unit.

Numbers of true "failures" I have seen over 30 years less than the fingers of one hand.

Just checking it is a genuine ECM and not an aftermarket Thundermax or similar ?

Now those I have seen fail, electrical discontinuity and corrosion problems. Stock ECM back on and Bob's yer mother's brother.

Perhaps a dozen times I have done that then reflashed the stock ECM with Supertuner Pro and good to go.

One ex NZ Softail Nightrain, personal import by the guy to Perth WA, arrived with a Thundermax and NO stock ECM.

He had bought that used in NZ years previous and it was running like a Bag O' Shite, all sorts of running and alarm misbehaviours.

That had to be an exxy dealer visit, and they "did not like working on imports" at the time.

New ECM had to be coded to the TSSM using the dealer Digitech computer. Not doable at home (not my me at least !)

Watch that there isn't a Power Commander squirrelled away somewhere out of sight ( Dynas the worst)

Last one I did was a very clean ex-US 2010 Superglide just 1 year ago. Hidden power Commander.
78 year old mate of mine had just bought it from Perth HD and it did not tune up the way it should have ?
Went digging, found and fucked off the PC3, Supertuner pro reflash, and now it runs like a champ.

That doubles the amount of male/female connectors and are known for corrosion issues, even in "dry" Australia.

Pinched wire(s) somewhere after a handlebar change ? Seen that PLENTY.

2006 Bars would have been externally wired stock.

Sounds like a wire by wire search, electrical clean and lube spray on every connection, best of luck with that.
