    Hello Gents,
A mate has been quoted five hours labour @$170 an hour to change his drive belt.
I think it is excessive am I wrong?
    Sorry forgot the bike, Fatbob

Yeah its expensive, but not too far off.
A shop should be able to change it way faster than that, I can change it faster at home and Im a punter.
Whether they want to commit to that is another story.

Bit of an annoying job, inner and outer primary, primary chain, compensator & clutch hub all need to come off.

Ive helped mates replace belts on their Evo big twins a couple of times, and got a good laugh from it, thinking about my Sporty and 2 Vic's, both with the final drive on the opposite side from the primary drive, so you don't have to dismantle much to fit a belt or chain.
The old way of arranging things was OK when using rear chains that you could just thread in then rivet, but crazy when using belts.
You would think HD would have progressed by now; a quick phone call to Baker Drive Train to get some guidance would have helped. Their RHD 6 speed transmission is brilliant.

Got to add to previous post. Baker no longer sell a right side drive transmission. Even the replacement parts no longer seem to be available.
Flipping the rear wheel over and fabricating a rear brake caliper torque arm to bolt onto the swing arm seems to have been too much for most people to cope with.
It looks like Jim's still make one that only fits Evo's.
Ultima don't seem to sell their poor quality knock off copy either.
Just another timìd retreat from genuine progress.

Harsh Steve lol, economics id imagine, I remember 1984 very clearly, hear no, see no, ride no Evo, then 1999, omg, a twin cam! What are the moco thinking! Now it's the M8, I'm kinda in pushback there, nout wrong with an M8 but as I get older the tech that keeps em running is only of a fleeting interest, points or basic electronic ignition and carbies are more appealing these days, did you watch that video? I've been both him and the fucker he speaks of lol, what a shit of a job just to change the belt, I've only done 3 in 22 years of twin cam ownership, I'd like to do a 30/70 on the slim but I dunno if I can be arsed anymore haha.
