Agree it's a good example, it's a 30 year old bike so there will be things that need attention as they present themselves, that aside, the price is up there but in that condition and low k's they will probably get it, getting harder to find in as nice a condition as that seems, have ridden it? Being a dealership that should be possible.

Riding mate of mine has an Evo Nostalgia as his everyday bike. White and silver with smaller leather bags.
He has owned it since 6 months old (back in the days when it often took 18 months to get a new Harley in Australia)

So many parts are now NLA due to the age, he makes parts, and adapts Dyna stuff to fit etc.
Khromewerks Dyna tapered mufflers modded to fit the "high-high" type exhaust stock on these (more like an Evo Fatboy)
He is I must say VERY handy ( Electronics tech tradesman in the 70's)

The bike has done him well and has been across Oz and back twice. Perth to Philip island round trips.

Speedo went back to zero haha... Quite cool that actually !

The old girl just keeps going

Point of note, that is an OLD bike for an HD dealer to be retailing, so they must have confidence in it.

Wonder if any of their mechanics can work on it haha... ( half joke half serious !)

PFC, if you buy it and don't crash it, I would be more confident of it reaching 100,000 kms without needing major engine or gearbox work than any later generation of engines.
It will be slow compared to a Twinkie or M8 and it will vibrate. If you can accept that, resist the urge to spend money to make it go faster, it will last you a lifetime.
But buy some better shocks for it.

For what my opinion is worth, irrespective of the condition and low klms, I think you are paying too much for a bike with 30 year old technology. I purchased a new 2005 Softy Classic and the 5 speed gear box really was not a good match in my opinion.  I think the 2006 or there abouts came out with a 6 speed which made a world of difference

Only personal opinion here, but not all of us are chasing the latest tech. One of my bikes has 4 speeds, carby and points, I enjoy riding it as much as the other 2 with 6 speeds and modern engine management.

I think the point here is "personal choice" .
We are all very different in our likes and dislikes and preferences - and that's good !
I've always found a 6 speed in a Harley to be unnecessary - but that's me - for a touring bike maybe .
There are a few early Jap bikes that I have owned and would like to find again.
But the market has priced them beyond what is reasonable to me, but the they still sell amazingly fast .

Congrats cobber.  As I said pretty clearly I thought, what I said was only giving "my opinion".  I am 63 (not for much longer) and just purchased a 2025 Road Glide (a week ago) and absolutely love everything about it and have clocked up 950 klms already BUT I still question myself on getting such a big heavy bike (380 kg's dry) at my age.  Fair to say I will invest in saddle bag protection bars and highway pegs as I am sure that I will lay it over when going really slow and especially when 'crab walking' doing a U turn out of car parks.  Time will tell.  It sounds like you will really enjoy your new bike which is what we all on this site have in common.  All the best

Hey PFC, glad to hear you bought it, may it give you the full old Harley experience, for good and ill.  😃  Sounds like with that experience you'll enjoy both sides of that.
And Hilly, mate I've got 2 Victory's, one the bagger I bought in 2014 when my wife decided she wanted to ride with me and since neither of us are tiny people, it had to be a bit more than the Sporty. Went looking for a second hand evo Road King and tripped over an ex shop demo  and press ride Vic Hard Ball. Way more rider/passenger room - it was before the Project Rushmore improvements for Harley tourers, most luggage capacity of any bike ever made, no need to ever worry about the crank twisting, or needing premature cam chain tensioner replacement, 120 mm of rear wheel travel for deluxe passenger comfort, and enough power and lean angle clearance (for 2014) to keep up on mountain roads, eh PB?
Bought another Vic when I retired a few years ago because I appreciate the power train and I'm a sucker for flames over matte black paint and apes.
Enough mild shit stirring for the day.
And Roo, you did point out up front that it was your opinion, I wasn't crapping on your opinion, just saying that not all of us share it. For me, with tech it's all about does it improve the ride experience that we're looking for in any particular bike.
I'm glad your enjoying your new bike, any bike that puts a smile on your face is a good one.
And I understand your concerns about the weight. I put the Vic bagger on the hoist a year ago to replace a rear tyre, then looked a bit further after finding too much free play in the rear suspension. Got all the little ball joints I need to replace but with my last year of piss poor health and injury that had me thinking it was T Max time it's still fkn up there as I haven't been able to sit down on the floor or on a milk crate to work on it.
Getting better and stronger though and will try again in a few weeks.
Once I could lift my left arm to handlebar height without screaming, I'm a wuss, the 36 year old Sporty got me back into riding. Love it, old tech and all, POS 4 speed gearbox behind the 1200 motor, with the stock one year only overseas model too high gearing that chews up countershaft 3rd gear way too soon but let's me clunk it into 4th and ride a wave of torque up to a country road cruising speed of 75 mph.
Rambling again, probably shouldn't have had that beer with lunch.
But last, yeah Hilly I'm a bit weird, been knocking back offers of a free, all expenses paid trip to Victoria. Too old for shit that size.
