    Hey legends,

Has anyone done a foot clutch conversion on a sporty.

Been looking at the prism supply kits but they only do mid control kits and was wondering what else is out there.

EDIT: Forgot to put it in but what are you guys doing i regards to jiffy stand extensions?
Are you buying, fabbing a new one or are you cutting and extending the existing?

Cutting welding the existing one is the way im leaning

Trunksie, I don't have any pics, but I helped a mate do a foot clutch conversion on a 4 speed Evo Sporty in the 90's. It was a suicide clutch and jockey shift he did and I'm assuming that's what you want.
It was a bit of a butchers job but he was into rat bikes.
He already had a set of SE 5 speed Sporty forward controls massaged to fit, easy enough to put on the left side, not so much on the right.
He cut the clutch cable about 50mm out of the primary, used standard wire rigging fittings, eyelet and clamp to put an eyelet into the end of the cable. He put a small stainless  shackle into the eyelet and hooked it to some light chain attached to the eye on the gear lever, which he put on upside down, with another small shackle. He already had a SE heavy duty clutch spring in there and he relied on it to lift the old gear lever, now the clutch pedal, back up. He cut a V shaped piece of checker plate, sized to fit to the rear 2 primary cover screws, welded a steel bush to the apex of the V, and pivoted a length of steel rod off there, hooked to the gear shift shaft with the adjustable link rod that that had been been in the gear shift. I think he had to bend that around the clutch cover. He drilled and tapped a pool ball to go on top of the jockey shift.
Does that make sense? It looked rough, but worked OK with a bit of adjustment to the length of the chain. I rode it a few times, but never got the skills needed to use it smoothly. OK on country roads but a horror show in traffic.
    Extended side stand?
Are you putting longer fork tube in?

Yeah mate I sorta see what your saying ive seen a few big twins do something similar.

Have a look at prism supply kits.

All up they are about $1200 delivered

They replace the derby cover and you remove the clutch cable and they supply a bolt to plug the hole in the primary cover.

I want to do the whole thing in my garage so trying to keep fabrication to a minimum I have access to a workshop 15 minutes away.

Yeah I need to extend the jiffy stand.

Im rebuilding the forks with 6"+ and im dropping the arse a couple of inches with some progressive springs which would eventually be a hardtail if it isn't a nightmare with engineering.

However it turns out please keep posting pics, it would be good to get some Sporty chopper pics to balance up those of old blokes bikes. 🙂The Prism Supply kits look good Trunksie, but as you say limit you to mid controls, which does lower the cool factor.
If your looking at that kit, I've gotta assume it's  5 speed pre rubbermount bike?
A suggestion would be to buy the Prism Supply jockey shift kit, also buy a set of TC bros forward controls, use the brake side as is. On the left side, use the kits gear lever, cut the tab off it that by design pushes on the kits gear linkage and have it TIG welded onto the top of the lever, and do the chain linkage I mentioned last post.

First time you will have ridden with +6" fork tubes?
    Enjoy!
