First Polaris shutdown Victory, now they're selling off Indian to a private equity firm.
Interesting to see where Indian go from here.

Well maybe, I'd like to think it's like HD coming out from AMF on borrowed money, but not really hopefull.

    G'day,
from what I've seen, most companies bought by private equity firms are closed/shut down soon after.
    Rivers, Harley Heaven, Peter Stevens.

I'd like to think of them putting it up for resale down the track, and it being picked up by Mahindra.
Then I'd really get a laugh out of the marketing slogan  Since 1901.
I like their product though, and the choice of a new CEO is better than choosing the prior head of a sports shoe brand.

I guess HD are no better, as they are meant to have sold off the Sportster to SWM -shineray .

I did hear on the grapevine that HD haven't sold off the sportster to SWM. From what I can gather, is they reversed engineered the sporty. I know that if you live in the states you can buy their other bikes but they won't be selling their version of the sportster in the US.

Yes, It makes no sense why HD would sell the rights/plans etc to China .
I was going off the rumor mill, and the few post replies in that article - likely all bullshit .

Although China are building the small X350/X500 bikes for them !

Arent the x series made by Baja in India - or are they only for the Indian market ?
The SWM is a "Sporty " -and the euros are eating them up , the common thread is ' if not avail in US market coz 'emissions , how did they get them to confirm to euro spec (5/6) ?
My feeling is = its just a platform share - allows HS to focus on profitable big bikes and their partner to build a desire for a more affordable option .

And if they came her at $8990 I would be all over it !

Nothing also , SWM importer in Australia relinquished its agency in Aug 2024 - so we need ....Royal Enfield or a similar team to bring em in .
    Ai gooooogel claims

    Engine: A 1202cc, air-cooled, 45° longstroke V-twin Evo-style engine.
Performance: The engine is Euro5 compliant and is claimed to produce around 81.6 horsepower.
Style: The design is a close copy of the Harley-Davidson Sportster, particularly the Forty-Eight model.
Availability: The Stormbreaker is available in Europe and other markets, but due to the termination of its distribution agreement, it will not be introduced in Australia.

    Yesssssssssss

The X440 is the Harley made in India I believe.
The X350/500 is made in China.

Hard to keep track these days .

It's the same News spin that has been floating around.
I really can't see Indian going away for quite a while, if at all.
The private equity company will streamline operations as much as possible to prepare it for on-sale.
It must have some affect on buyer confidence though.
