So when i first got it i was looking at available clubs on the rms website. Seemed like alot of car clubs or if there was bikes they were really active and well.... being a 82 shovel its probly gona be more fixing then riding. Anyone know any clubs out there just happy to put me on the registry so i can pop around time to time. Got bugger all clue with historic rego so please share ya thoughts. Cheers

To be eligible under the NSW historic Vehicle registration your motorcycle must be at least 30 years of age from the date of manufacture, not be modified and present in as close to as original condition as possible. It must also comply with the relevant safety standards for registration in NSW (Pink Slip). Although a pink slip is not formally required you will need to meet the same requirements as normal registration.

You must also be a member of a Recognised historic vehicle club such as VHMCC for access to the scheme.

Period correct parts and other safety features and accessories such as turn Signals, mirrors, Mufflers etc. may possibly be acceptable but will need to be decided by the local machine examiners prior to approval by the Club on a case-by-case basis. As a general rule we encourage the preservation of these machines in their original state.

Information concerning Conditional registration can be found at the following link

Registering & Using a Historic Vehicle in NSW

Motorcycles with Historic Vehicle Registration through V&HMCC may be used on all rides & events that are listed in the Ride Calendar, Reciprocal Ride Invitations & Club Approved Events and/as indicated in Club Magazine & website.

The log book scheme also entitles you to use the bike on personal trips for 60 days in a calendar year for each bike registered with the VHMCC.

You must record entries into the Log book when the bike is being used outside of organised club events. The bike can also be used interstate following the same rules and conditions in NSW temporarily if/when travelling interstate.

Please note: Historic registration is not transferable upon sale of the vehicle.

    G'day,
I just had a look, f'n hell, there's a lot of clubs, eh?
A suggestion, look at the ones with a web site, narrows the choice and might make it a bit easier.
I looked at the Land Rovers club, [I'm thinking of buying one], and you don't even have to own one to join.
Hang on. I'm working on  it. Still waiting for a reply from a friend with a s/h.
how about 'Sydney Shovelhead Club Incorporated'

if you had 6 or 6 like minded associates you could start your own 'social club '

    .
Thing with clubs n social groups is " can be a bit of a ball ache" ...

I had cars n bikes - it sort of ended up I just registered them and did what I wanted , when I wanted - prob says more about my lack of social skills than others .

    But hey -ho hahahahaaaaa

A mate has just been looking at historic rego in Qld after getting his electric start Commando back together after a 20 year lie down. In the end he said stuff it, put full rego on it, came home with the number plate today.

    Hey Chickenstrips

I don't get on here much but noticed your post about historic/club Rego.

You mention you are in Sydney.  I highly recommend Classic and Custom car club of NSW. They are based in The Oaks.

Super friendly guys run the admin side of things and pretty laid back.

I've got a Shovel and an old Chev on the club Rego scheme, couldn't be easier.

I have quite a few mates with bikes with them - shovels and evo's.

I understand the argument for full Rego but in reality, I don't think I've ever filled up the logbook. Mates are the same - 60 days.

With the cost of full Rego these days club Rego is a no brainer.

Give George a call, we usually go out and see him Saturday mornings. Not a bad pub out there and even better Chicken shop.

    Hope this helps

    Bigbob
