I have a push on oil filter cooler cover, an alloy finned gizmo that pushes over a STOCK oil filter, has to be original OEM.
I have tried fitting it over a number of aftermarket filters, and it is way too loose on all.
I have been using these "Oil filter cooler collars" as they were called since 2008.
All my mate's twincams have them, recommended and fitted by me. Infinitely reusable
They drop the oil temp a clear 20F, so they do work.
HD sold them as an accessory part up until maybe 2008, HD part# and all.
They are NLA and have been for quite a while, the original manufacturer is now gone (perhaps deceased, guy working from a home factory)
Only the stock OEM oil filter is the correct diameter for them to work, and even some of them are now 1mm too narrow.
I micrometer measure each new batch and write the mm on the oil filter box. Some are 75mm now, others 76.
HAS to be the 76mm. The 75mm I use on bikes not so equipped.
In the US in 2011, I bought a carton of original black oil filters, $8USD each ($7.50 AUD at the time)
So yes , $25 AUD per filter is painful, but it's only once per year haha...
