2009 Street Glide Stereo Issues

Hi all. I have a 2009 Street Glide and the stereo just stopped putting out sound. The head unit lights up but no sound. I have tested the speakers and done other things and am pretty confident it is the unit. It is the stock standard Harmon Kardon BE 7680 stereo and the problem is that I can not get a replacement. Does anyone have any heads up on any other stereo that would suit the same wiring and fit in the slot or whether there is some form of adapter to suit this purpose. I know I can use ear buds but the missus does not want this so here I am seeking a solution.
Cheers and TIA

That’s a common fault with the oem harmon kardon head unit. If you could get a second hand replacement you wouldn’t bother as they’re pretty shit. I replaced mine years ago and there quite a few options then that worked with oem wiring and handlebar controls. Dunno what is available now as it hasn’t been a common head unit since 2013.

Aftermarket still caters, you get what you pay for, HogLights have a flash one, depends if you have a Harman amp though, let google be your friend 😁

Look for something like this, suitable for marine use so shouldn't crap out if you get caught in a storm. You can get a plug in kit so your bar controls still work if needed. Sounds like the same problem as my 2011 Ultra has. To be honest I haven't replaced mine as I found that I don't miss it at all.

The part that fails in these units is the 4 channel amplifier. You can get the replacement chip on the net. It is difficult to replace . you need very good skills to remove the old chip and get the new one in without further damage. I have done a couple and they worked.

I know nothing about the Glide audio units, but worked in electronic repair forever .
I was interested so I looked around, and I'm guessing this is the repair dicko has mentioned ?
A simple enough job, but how long it lasts until it dies again- who knows !!

Don't know where you are located but I took mine (I had to pull the unit out of the bike, not hard) to a repair place (but it was 15 plus years ago) and they did fix it. They may still repair them not sure - JVP Service Centre, 90 Sydenham Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204
