Have a gander at this bit of gold, that's my idea of a nice looking Evo powered FXR, I'd buy that and sell the slim in a heartbeat, why do I feel like I have just been unfaithful lol.

That is a nice looking fxr.
That is what you should have got instead of the sportster.
You better hop on that Slim and go for a ride to remind yourself how good it is.

Choices haha, the sporty will be great, I started slim yesterday as I was in the shed while it was pissing down with rain, I need a ride, I don't think I could part with it anyway.

FXRS by the looks....  but nothing to write home about IMO (tidy and tight but so are all the rest).

I seen that one on bike sales, nice bike, not a fan of bikini fairings or those high riser bars that are all the rage, mini apes and forward control's suit me better, so the the one I linked would need "adjusting" ;)

Not really up with the current FXR scene , what would it be worth ?
It would be a good thing to add to the collection !
I could imagine what it would cost to build even starting with a cheap base.

Not many decent examples for sale, this looks clean enough -

Geez...they could have taken the effort to color match the fairing....

There's a '92 FXR in Perth HD's showroom at the mo. Quite a clean thing. Looks to have been sold new in Australia.

Usually a bit old for them to be retailing vis a vis "warranty" etc.

Two tone blue, aftermarket twin disc caliper setup. Supertrapp 2:1, Screamin Eagle heads, humungous carby.

No price on it, and sorry no photo.

Be handy if the dealer had it on their website or bikesales etc

Don't know sorry, forgot to ask. Quite a cult following for them here.

I seem to remember they kept making FXR models for the US domestic market for a fair while after they stopped exporting them.

For sure some came as "grey imports" during that flood of used bikes 2010 to 2018. Probably imported as "Dynas"

This example had the riveted "Aussie" aluminium plate with VIN etc, was sold new in Oz, maybe even WA before Frasers.

    G'day,
are they the bikes the police used ? I seem to remember that there was a guaranteed buy back scheme. Where HD would sell the bikes to the police and buy them back after whatever years at a guaranteed price.

Yes indeed they did. In the late 80's and/or very early 90's

I saw examples that had been "customised" post police life. That was in 1995.

Flame paint jobs and all that magazine inspired stuff.

And I did speak to a retired Motorcycle copper who said that the bikes were not mechanically robust enough for police work.

When stood a while in the WA seabreeze, they cooled down quickly ( normally a good thing).

BUT not for police work, vehicle pursuits etc. Reckoned the water cooled Honda that replaced it stayed warm due to the water jacket.

I'm guessing the water cooled Honda that replaced them was the ST1100 ?
I bought one to do a part lap of Aus' years ago, and I rate it in the top favorite bikes I've owned .
It would happily sit on 200km/h all day, and I was lucky enough to be able to do that in a time before we turned
    into a "Nanny" country . .

Yes it was water cooled Hondas, probably that model.

At one time they had air cooled Yamahas also, a Harley mate has an ex-WAPOL one as is "other" bike.

Not my cuppa Joe, but each to their own.
