Hi guys, I have a 2006 dyna super glide 1450, which has developed an intermittent stutter after around 15km or so of riding. I can accelerate out of it and it disappears for a while however returns.
Have had the bike checked and no fault codes appear, run injector cleaner additive with no success it still coughs every now and then. I have even removed the O2 sensors as I have had success getting rid of these with other bikes, plugs changed etc.
Anyone had similar issues with their machines, any help appreciated.
    Cheers, Ron

Right, it's not a lot, it had 02's you say, 06 dynas in Oz didn't have them from the factory, I know, I brought an 06 wide glide when they came out, so that tells me someone fitted them as the wiring was there just not the sensors, so it's been tuned to some degree as you have to flash a calibration with closed loop in it to make use of the 02's, you get anything with the bike?

It has a Dyna Fuelpack fitted under the seat, the bike has run great since I bought it in 2016.
I think the previous owner imported it from the States around 2010.
The bike has been looked at by a reputable Harley mechanic and he could not fault it when ridden, it ran great for about a week then the problem returned that is when I removed the O2 sensors and fitted the plug ins that make the ecu think they are still there and the same ran good for a while then the symptoms returned.
    Could it be the injectors🤔

Ok, sounds like it's not the tune side then, funny you should mention injectors, mine developed an intermittent stutter, not always there but sometimes mostly there, no codes, checked everything I could think of, I changed the fuel filter, you done that yet? Just on years it would probably be filthy, anyway I digress, turned out it was a broken wire in the injector harness right up near the plug, I had to pull on the wires to find it, years on cat trucks taught me that, you pull sort of gentle firm and if it keeps coming she broken, a pic of the culprit.

I changed the fuel filter when the petcock was leaking and renewed.
Will check the wiring for a high resistance open circuit on the injectors.
Really appreciate your help mate, the issue is niggling me.
    Cheers

No wuckas, one more thing, the 06 came out with 8° injectors, they gave issues, the fix was the 25° injectors, same part number but the 25° number ends in 06A instead of 06, have a gander, maybe?

i used to have this similar issue on an 07 dyna,a little stutter [ just once ,then fine for many km's ],not temperature or time dependant, but was more likely when warm.fitted new injectors last may and apart from a broken lead to the rear injector a few weeks later,it has run fine ever since [ i believe the lead broke from poor alignment when i reconnected after repairs, interesting roadside repair in the dark ]

same as mine did Hilly...green wire as well.....coincedence i feel.i had a code come up for broken/loose lead to rear injector.

    My experience of 2006 Dyna.

I had a 2006 Dyna 35th Anniversary same as yours, bought new in 2005 from Frasers Perth WA.

My first EFI Harley, beautiful thing. As mentioned , 6 speed tranny BUT no O2 sensors on the Aussie market Dynas, and they proved quite hard to get a calibration for tuning, had to use modded Softail calibrations (but they were still 5 speed tranny).

Mine had the later 25 degree injectors , had to factor that into the tuning calibration used. The given reason for the factory injector change was "driveability" I kid you not. It was done on the production line after a certain chassis breakpoint, and under warranty at the HD dealer IF the bike was having problems, Are any bikes still running 8 degree injectors, you can bet your azz they are !

I reckon you Fuelpak thingo will not want the O2 sensors connected, but I have not worked on Fuelpak but have worked on similar setups over the years. Mostly fucking them off and reflashing with Super tuner Pro or original SERT software. That's after reconnecting the O2 sensors ( 2007 and younger).

Hi, I removed the tank this arvo, checked the wires into the connectors for the injectors and they were firm.
Looked closer at the injectors and they were the original 8 degree 06 stamped, so I will get the 25 degree injectors and fit them.
Good bit of info you sent just like the other guys, much appreciated.
    Cheers

No worries. If you were in Perth WA or close I would have been able to help reflash the bike with O2 sensors connected and a correct calibration for 25 degree injectors.

    PM me thru the site

You could do what Retro described yourself as well if you are so inclined, there are dollar's involved either way, buy a reprogrammed SE dongle, they are available, source a copy of the old Screamin Eagle Pro Super Tuner software, still doable, a laptop and cable, there are other options, one is a Maximus, it is current and supported in software and sales, I don't know what mapping options are available for the gizmo you currently have, anyway it would be good to hear how it all works out, even if you do take the solutions to PM.

This is the service bulletin. My 2006 Roadking had the 8 degree injectors . all bikes manufactured after January 2006 had 25 degrees from factory. Mine were changed under the service bulletin. Along with a new tune . I have the software and the dongle matched to my bike. Mine runs great with the harley map for 25 degree. Do you still have the original ecu?
