I am looking to replace the stock Heavy Breather air cleaner element on my 2008 CVO Springer.
Part# is 29424-05A
Looks like this, stock on a 2008 CVO Springer

My options other than stock seem to be either
K&N RC-3680, with a noticeable taper and 62mm mounting throat ( will that fit the stock chrome air intake tube ?)
OR K&N RC-9360, 64mm mounting throat (or flange)
What has anyone else used to replace the stock factory filter ?

The screamin Eagle extreme heavy breather filter for the m8 is a direct swap and they sell them separately

Thanks mate for that info. Just this morning I bought a new HD29424-05B filter element from Harley Heaven.
Screamin' Eagle Heavy breather replacement, has Screamin Eagle laser embossed on the chrome end cap.
The mounting flange has a chrome surround ( NOT available for K&N direct by MOCO agreement apparently)
An over the counter purchase for $172.85. Very kind of them !
They had 2 on the shelf so no waiting. Multi-fit fits most all heavy breathers, both Softail and Dynas and Roadkings.
Exact same size as the original CVO Springer element, bar the 110 logo which is now NLA I believe.
I also have the K&N element RC-3680 in the mail. $95.16 as I had some discount with ebay sparesbox to use.
If it doesn't suit I will soon find a home for it.
All black rubber at the "female" end so sure not as purty....

The plot thickens a wee bit. Now I have cleaned and reoiled this original air filter unit several times, I have had the bike 14+ years.
Over those years it has been multiple stone chipped and dinged, the replacement was for cosmetic reasons, not functional.
When I took it off today to fit the new arrival, I forgot it had a hard plastic bracket within it. No 11 in the diagram. Been 2+ years.
Called Bracket, filter support 29716-08A. Slides inside the chrome inlet tube and filter, and clamps the rubber throat at the "correct" spot.
I never removed this on any of my prior cleaning ventures, didn't need to, left it in there while cleaning/drying/reoiling.
Tried to remove it today to put in the new filter element and it wasn't for moving so I was careful not to "destroy it out".
So the newie is just on without this bracket. Went a 40 K's return ride, and all seemed OK.
From what I can glean from the 'net and youtube, only the CVO models that came with a Heavy Breather as stock OEM have this.
It is listed as "not for sale" when you nugget down on the HD dealer websites for parts finding. Seems to be "CVO only".
It sure looks like the Heavy breather complete kits 29264-08A do not come with this filter support bracket.
TO TOP OFF THE DISCOVERIES, THE CVO 110 MEDALLION CAN BE FOUND LISTED AT $160 AUD YOWZAH !
