    Hey all.
I have a Screamin’ Eagle Pro Super Tuner (SEPST) black box version that I purchased from an eBay provider in Australia who sells them unmarried for my 2013 Sportster XL1200C. I bought a four-port cable to connect it to my laptop and downloaded the last available software from this forum (v.11.002.0000). However, there were no drivers with the software, just the program itself and the Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI) won't connect to the laptop. I get a beep as the USB plugs it and the VCI shows in Windows 11 Device Manager as missing drivers. I downloaded some other drivers for the similar orange SEPST (2109-08C) that covers more models, but these are not recognised as valid drivers when I try to install them. Does anyone know a work-around or where to download valid Windows 11 drivers for the SEPST from? Thanks in advance!

I have run the software on XP pro and 7 pro without any worries.
My son runs it on 10 pro.
If you got it from Mario, send him a message. He is good to deal with and pretty switched on to the electronics and software.

    Thanks.

I’m pretty sure it is an issue with the drivers. It might even be that the drivers do not support a newer laptop running USB 3.1 / 3.2.

I’m not sure who Mario is. I bought the unit on eBay in Australia.

The black box version is the very oldest of them, probably made in 2007 or 2008, so "older" than your bike

They have been Orange since 2009, so most Screamin Eagle Supertuner Pro dongles are orange.

They ran like that until maybe 2017. Harley had Emissions compliance issues with them in the US and they were withdrawn

I have used the black dongle version on a few bikes, but all had had them from new in 2008/2009, already "married" to the bike.

My 2017 Software worked fine thru them, but It prompted an "updating" of the black dongle before allowing any reflash of the ECM.

That was not uncommon, fairly often the dongles had not been reconnected to the bike since new, often over 10+ years !

"Mario" was/is a Polish dude in Victoria, and he sold the "unmarried" or more correctly "divorced" dongles. As others have said, email him thru ebay, any dealings I had with him in the past were cordial.

PS If you are in Perth WA or close, we can try connecting the bike up to one of my tuning laptops ?

Thank. Yes I’ve been doing some reading on the tuners. It sounded like the orange just did more model bikes and some newer ones than the older black unit. Which was a lot cheaper probably as a result.

I have a friend that is lending me their 10 year old laptop. So that might do the trick. But otherwise I might get back to you as I am also in Perth (NOR).

Where did you source the Supertuner Pro software ?

Not too easy to find these days. Originally you got a CD with the dongle then used the info on the CD to update the software occasionally.

I am also north of the river if it comes to that. PM me for contact details.

It has also occurred to me, what if any tuner device is or was on the bike when you got it ?

It would be very rare now for a now 12 year old bike to have been "stock" by now. If it was Power Commander or similar no worries it can be overridden by the Supertuner setup. If it had it's own Supertuner Pro dongle already there may be problems.

I see it all the time where bikes have been parted from the original Pro dongle somewheres on their life's journey.

That can present problems as the ECM looks for it's "own" race tuner dongle.

Lately it has been nearly half of the bikes I am asked to tune for local Indy shops, I cant do them as I get the dreaded "reflash aborted" screen prompt. Hopefully you can avoid that.

Perth metro HD dealers now want to sell you a Maximus tuner, and Supercycles the Powervision pushers are long gone.

I downloaded the software from the Harley HD Forum; someone had posted a link there to it. I bought the tuner separately on eBay as I have now fitted a Screamin Eagle air cleaner and the bike already had a Screamin Eagle exhaust fitted. So, I did some reading and it all pointed to the bike probably benefiting from a tune; it certainly is idling higher now. I looked at other options, but the older "race" tuners seemed fine and a lot cheaper than new alternatives. And probably a sportier tune than the new EOA-compliant "Street" tuners also.

Re "I’m not sure who Mario is. I bought the unit on eBay in Australia."

Mario is a guy who has been resetting HD Tuners for several years now. If you bought it on Ebay there is a high chance that Mario was the seller. Either way reach out to the seller and see what they say.

You are correct about the "street tuner". Np point unless you are under warranty , ie bike less than 2 years old !!

If not already tuned, a Supertuner pro dongle makes multiple changes.

Air/fuel ratio, ignition advance/retard, rev limiter setting and more. Difference is immediately obvious.

I sent an old boy home to Chittering Valley on a Sportster 1200 Custom, and the thing was popping wheelies !

That bike was a one lady owner before him and was 100% factory stock. I livened it right up !

That’s exactly what I’ve got. A 1200 sportster custom. It’s a lot more sorry after the cleaner was put on. I’m hoping the tuner will smooth it out. It’s a handful in the wet.

Hi. No nothing yet. I have been unwell so haven't been able to pick up the old laptop yet. But definitely keen to try it on another computer so hopefully I can get to it soon.

Hi, if you have a genuine old black dongle, you may need to put it in an old XP computer with the SEPST software and update the firmware, then go to a windows 7 computer and use that firmware. This will turn in into an orange dongle. (it will still look black obviously) Then it will work with the SEPST software in a windows 10 comp etc.
