Hi all, looking to buy a '96 Sportster. Will be my first Harley.
It has been modded somewhat, although not by the guy who currently owns it. The add blurb was as follows:
1996 XLH 1200 Sportster.
Runs very well, quiet motor.
Chain Drive, drag pipes, LePera seat, forward controls, aftermarket wide glide trees, 21" front wheel, big twin split tanks, floating discs, lowered shocks.
Currently on non transferable club permit.
Showing 45,000km
It sure looks good, and I'm going to check it out on Friday this week. Just wondering if anyone has any tips as to what I should look out for. All comments greatly appreciated.

What state is it in...some states are less tolerant of modifications than others.

I had a 96, low ks is good, carby might need a rebuild if it hasn't been done yet, rear guard can crack from bolt holes behind support bracket, main circuit breaker can give you dramas, intake seals could be sus due to age, pretty easy bikes to live with, I'm a fan of them, don't own one at present though, I used to ride mine in the sand dunes chasing my kids on their 4 wheeler, true story 😁
