Similar problem to the last recall...

Due to a manufacturing issue, the rear shock absorber adjuster mounting bolt may break. As a result, the shock absorber adjuster could loosen and contact the rear tyre causing a loss of air pressure.

Sounds like using a larger bolt just shifted the issue

I spoke to the M&W Service Manager in Melbourne on 20th August and he said that HD Australia and the Dealers are no longer contacting owners regarding recalls and the onus is now on the owner to contact their dealer. I was told that they would order the part and once it arrived, they would call to book the bike in... told me it would take 2-3 business days to get the part. Been 8 days now.

For those interested, here is a photo of of the new bracket for the rear shock preload adjuster. Basically if the bolt breaks the 'tray' stops it from dropping onto the rear wheel.

Good stuff Ho, did it take 3 months to get it? Why does the bolt break? You would think prevention would be the focus rather than a band-aid.

Hey Hilly.... ordered the part 20/08... dealer advised they received 2/9... weather has been shit so didn't get the bike to them till 6/11.

Not sure if affected by stock seat, but suspect so, the rear shock preload adjuster sits very close to bottom of the seat and any extra pressure could break the bolt and then the preload adjuster is left dangling and have on occasions lodged against the rear tire. Their first fix was to install a larger bolt, but I guess it didn't fix the problem.
