TBR 2-1 pipes

Hey all. My 2015 Fat Bob is in need of a new gaudy. Had D&D Fat Cat since new but now front header pipe snapped near cylinder and can’t be welded.

Always preferred 2-1, open to colour (stainless or black).

Looking to replace with TBR 2-1 Comp-S. Or perhaps V&H Power Pro. Both caught my eye on Rollies site. Anyone got some experience with these on their Dyna’s or other HD’s?

I did a forum search and most seem happy. Would maybe go Fat Cat again but had first pipe header (rear cylinder) welded a few years back and now snapped the front!

    Thanks.

I'd go for the D&D again(out of the 3 pipes you named) apparently a good performing exhaust, Bassani do nice pipes too

The Fat Cat is the best pipe you will get for that bike.
I am curious that the header can not be welded.
Sounds like you may have a mounting problem because there should not be any movement creating fatigue between the exhaust ports and the headers.
Do you use the tab below the cam cover when mounting the pipe ?
I would snug the transmission bracket up tight and leave some play in the 9/16" bolts .Have a loose fit at the collector and the tab at the cam cover and snug the exhaust header brackets up tight.
Fit a spacer at the cam cover tab if required to support the header fit at the exhaust ports.
    Tighten everything up.
Should be a good tight stress-free fit.
    Use cometic race gaskets.

Thanks. You are probably right but feel like a change from D&D after the Fat Cat (agree, great pipe). Interested in ppls experience in the TBR.

Didn't think V&H made the pro pipe for Dyna anymore... only 2:1 shown is STAINLESS 2-INTO-1 UPSWEEP. I had Pro Pipe on my 2007 Street Bob and whilst it had good performance and awesome sound, it was a humungus pipe. Mine was one of the first and didn't have heat shields back then so I wrapped mine. They did have a shorter version for later Softails when I looked in 2022 when I bought Bassini

Is your engine a stock one or modified?

Hi Lushy - Stage 1 with SE Heavy Breather and a tune for the Fat Cat. Maybe in the future put a cam in but no more then that.

The TBR pipes are more top end biased, but with a stock motor not massive differences will show. You want a 2 into 1?

Yeah mate. Always liked the 2-1 on the Fat Bob.

After research and hearing views, I ordered a 2-1 D&D Bob Cat system.

Was tempted by others but all roads led to D&D for me and went Bob Cat for something different over the Fat Cat system I’ve had for a 10 years. Will put up a pic in a few weeks (back order).

Thanks for those that took the time to offer opinions.

    Got the Bob Cat installed.

I think I’m in love. So ugly it’s beautiful. Carbon Fibre on a HD can look sweet.

D&D seems to have improved the black coating on the headers - seems hardier and the slight gloss in it is good. Different sound - old school HD at points. Bit louder at start but slightly quieter when rider compared to the Fat Cat.

Runs different, as you’d expect too - encourages more revs. So it’s like I have a whole new Fat Bob! Tried a flash tune from dealer … Will see how it goes. Can get tuned otherwise… maybe look to drop a cam in at the same time. We’ll see.

Bobcat is a decent pipe on a 103", they sound alright as well, a bloke I knew put one on his 117" twin cam, wasn't enough pipe for it, somehow it was my fault! Lots of good cams out there for stock 103's, so much fun 😁
